I don't know what's going on, I haven't been able to get texts in a few days... Sending them no problem
Time to get ride of the flip phone if you cannot text..........

What length of tube do you need for exhaust? If you can get by with 26", RRP Handlepole Tube could be used. There is just no flange.

HA! Im gonna hold onto this sucker as long as I can haha :p

It looks like the distance is right at 28.5" hull to bulkhead, and would be about 32" to get a nice area for the exhaust hose to clamp to. I don't think I need a flange, Im going to cut whatever tube I get to match the hull angle. Plus I have the tray open so I should be able to hold it nice and tight with 5200 from inside and outside of both ends.. That should work fine yeah?

May have an ADA Steering I might could part with. Uses fatbar handlebars.

I actually have an ADA 7/8 system but I really don't like the design with the "sealed" bearings... Im really thinking about the Thrust shorty and a riser bar. When I rode your Rickter I was glad the handlepole wasn't any longer haha also when I rode surf a couple weeks ago with Paul, I realized how long my handlepole is just being -2 on a "stock" SJ. I just couldn't get far enough forward half the time I was out there

The ADA is a solid design, ran mine for 4 years and never had an issue. The Thrust is a sealed design as well! Honestly, they are the 2 best designs out there!!!!!

Well, Ive been working through the process of getting paperwork for this ski before I put any serious effort into it. But, I have been slowly collecting parts and in the process picked up a really nice complete FX-1 with a title. The ski came from AZ and was nearly stock aside from handlebars and a cone filter. I have been riding that ski and really enjoy the FX-1. As soon as I get solid paperwork for this "FX-2" I will begin the real work! I did finally get my Tom21 sponsons and 144 tunnel for this project. I even decided to order a new pump and really turn it up a notch  Another crazy thing about this build is that my brother also picked up an FX-1 and I have 2 of everything and I will be building 2 identical custom FX-1's.

So a lot has happened since the last update! I was able to secure paper work for this broken hull. I also picked up a decent titled FX-1 in the mean time. I am still going to fix the broken hull, but I have already started to work on the complete ski I picked up. I decided to group them together in this thread rather than starting another thread.

I got the ski stripped down and ready for work!

I then de-turfed the ski haha is that even proper inglish?

after the removal and some light clean up, it was time to start cutting. I decided to use some tape to help me keep a relatively straight line while making the cuts for removing the tray. I got super lucky and the tray came out in 1 piece!!!

Nice cuts!

Haha thanks! I did make 2 mistakes... I cut into the bulkhead slightly, I wasn't far back into the tray enough but I think it will be okay. It didn't cut completely through and it was only on the upper lip of the bulkhead. The 2nd mistake is that I cut completely through the rear lip! I am doing a 144 pump tunnel install so I doubt this will be a huge deal. I hate making mistakes but it seems like both of the f-ups will work out haha

Stupid question from the peanut gallery: Was the foam wet or can you tell if it was wet at one time?

dude, it was a swamp. It had been leaking for years I believe. It had a ton of sand and rocks in the bottom of the tray. All of the lines and exhaust were really easy to remove. Before I cut this ski open, it would drip from the ride plate mounts. It was even leaking straight through the bulkhead into the engine bay!

Uh, thanks. You know my FX-1 is approximately the same age. . .
Hopefully it is in better shape.
At least it doesn't drip while on the trailer.

(I am finally learning how to ride it, BTW.)

Are you sure that it is gelcoat? It was my understanding Yamaha painted its skis with Dupont Imron single stage (and friggin' bullet proof) paint.

Do you know where I can find the paint code or mixture specifications for the purple color?

I don't know if its gelcoat or paint... But I do know its a pain in my neck! Yes, very durable, I have been ripping at it with 60 grit and its fighting me!

As for the paint code, I have no idea. You will have to just match it up the best you can at an automotive paint supply store... I haven't completely decided if im keeping the stock colors or going full custom. I have a beautiful paint scheme in mind, but the FX-1 looks really great in stock color and graphics!

probably gonna go full custom... you know me, I be on that different chit :p
