dont let go. pin it to win it. hit the wave late. whip your head around. make sure have at least 6 foot of water.

ps and someone to to help you when you sink your ski.

i've never rolled a blaster but i just got it down this summer on my sxr and its all commitment to really throw yourself around.
I turn the opposite way of rotation just before the wave and then mid way through the wave cut hard to the side you want to roll then put your face to the side of the ski and try to look around it. once i got the balls to do that it was fairly easy

Depends what you are running. Trim is a huge help in a stocker. In Sandy type waves, you should be able to pull it off without trim, but you are going to need some hang time to get it around.

You can hit it one of too ways, real late where you plow throught he lip, you will rotate quicker but run the risk of being ripped off the ski, or right as the wave breaks where you should be a little more than verticl leaving the wave. Watch the Tahiti Freeride video, there is a nice side shot of a backflip where you can see the guys body position, he hangs off the back way after he leaves the wave, as the ski starts to stall out, he pulls into the bars bringing it around, and the spots his landing... epic..

check 3:45 for what I am talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCiYEiX5BXQ

Hay Zimmy,How you finding the rocker and -3 ??ive just ordered one from carterB on here.

Love the rocker, definitely a plus for surf riding, the ski doesn't plow coming down the face of a wave. The -3 makes it way more agile too, much easier to change direction!

Good video! I think that was the maiden voyage with the stroker motor, good times!

How much engine do you guys think you need to get that stock hull upside down? It looks like in those waves it could be done with a moderately build.

It can be done with a 701 and some bolt on mods. Of course a huge motor helps, but with the right wave, good timing and full commitment, it can be done on a basic setup.

Wow this changes my whole life lol. Up until recently I was sure it was almost impossible. I had watched a video on the web of a guy at Sebastian inlet do it on what looked stock but it was far away so hard to tell. I am about to buy an SJ because I can't pass it up but I am not going to lose sight on my blaster. I don't want to cut my haul all up like you guys do because I ride mostly flat water back home but I am going to Florida soon and I will leave it in WPB for the winter for a few ride sessions before and after Daytona so I cant wait to work more at the surf. My motor is moderate I would say. little over 82mm after 3 light seizes 35cc domes port matched factory pipe MSD. I had to double base gasket it for some reason to keep it running and now that I runs I'm afraid to change it. I picked up a stock ride plate to put back on over my groovy for the surf. I have a riva scoop intake grate that shouldn't hurt me should it? I will be reinforcing my hood before I leave (it already has some cracks) I think maybe I should reinforce around the bond line under the hood maybe as well. Will you be in FL any this winter Zimmy?

The guy in the Sebastian video was on a 701 with bolt on mods from what I remember, I chatted with him in Daytona a few years ago. I believe he had trim too.
Reinforcing the hood helps, a d cut groovy plate was great from in the surf, loved the way it rode.
I'll be in Daytona for the freeride in January, looking forward to it!

Also, I've seen the hull break around the hood liner, but only on one ski. I think backflip attempts hurt the hull less than pancaked rolls, the top part might crack but the hood should hold up. Coming up short on a roll stresses the hood way more especially if you try and hang on.

We heard cutting the rear off the ski was the trick, 3 fully modded skis are almost going in OZ now. the one that is going already has been flipped nonstop - the rocker nose and the shortened rear end change the whole ski. Mine will be ready in a few days and my balls have to drop now, so I'll just huck it off a frothy lipped wave. Flat water tests show the ski is very happy to go over, a lot faster than a stocker. The trim changes everything too.

Its like riding a super jet crossed with a Blaster..

I have not seen anyone in real life flip a stock blaster without trim.

Hmm I have two groovys maybe I should just cut one up then. What do you mean by hood liner? as in where the seal sets in place? My other big concern is the rear. I have heard a lot of people talk about cracking it where the hull hangs over the rear like where the eyelet is. I'd like to talk to you and at daytona maybe get some pointers. I really want to flip mine.

I tried to flip my blaster a couple times this season. It really takes alot of balls to go through with it. Theres a big difference when your not sitting in front of your computer screen and you have a solid overhead wave coming at you... It really sucks when your staring at the clouds and your heavey ass blaster, saying to yourself, poop this is going to hurt.

Escore have you come down to FL to practice yet? And will you be at Daytona trying backflips? I'll be there but unfortunately just sold my chopped/rockered B1 hull. I had 2 B1 hulls and wanted to downsize... Had a feeling my stock hull wouldn't sell so I kinda posted my rockered hull as a backup plan and it sold quickly. The good thing is I will mod my stock hull and make it my Gen2 chopped/rockered B1 with new ideas but the bad thing is I probably won't have it done for Daytona.
