the ROK was better without a intake grate as well, at low speed and for freestyle, but open her up and she will wanna pitch ya.
Awesome build bro, only wish my girl would get that into this sport.

Not like a BOB or anything,but will try to chine walk a little more than with a grate. You just lose the pull effect that a scoop grate gives when it kinda pulls the strakes down into the water so they are a "working" surface. Would be noticeable more on a lighter hul. My Trinity at 280lbs would act that way with out the intake grate,but in the ocean the grate (TBM) actually gave too much hookup for me so I would remove it for ocean riding. Since the Chan is ROK based I would think that what works on a ROK would apply to a Chan.Hope this helps. I would run it without it then try it with it and see what suits the rider best.

Not much of an update as I had to wait a few days for the pole bracket to show up, but got it mounted now along with the hood latch and bow loop. Still hoping to have it on the water Friday evening

The new pump shoe and No intake grate front mount is How the hulls Come now.. it's 100% better... you just have to make a little piece to fill the pump shoe Where the grate bolts in if you have one of the first chans

Got the air leak all fixed, just working on tuning the ski more. I haven't got a lot of ride time all the hull, but I'm really enjoying it so far. It feels super light and flickable, stable and carves really nice. Might have another Backie Chan on the way up here really soon
