I thought I might just update this after some time.
I have decided to not start any glass work and stick with the aluminium. I have secured it with pan head Allen head bolts and turfed right over them, and continued down the "rail". I have used some Traction Supply co (Aus company) printed rail mats. Looks sweet IMO. They have some really cool stuff, including regular turf. Prices are good too.
