How the f can this guy who cannot even ride a standup almost be landing rolls.
I don't know how many times I have to say it but eventually someone will listen. I can't ride a standup! sometimes I can ride my conversion. usually i just point it toward a wave and pin it hoping for the best. :fingersx:

I can get the flatwater rolls more than 2/3 of the way when working on it for a while. I still fall off if I try to turn sharp.

Dammit...I don't have a video, but I have made a lot of progress just in the past 2 weeks.
I can now pretty consistently get 2/3 around off my own setup wake. Something is amiss still, obviously.
I can do it on a couple different skis (one of them a gnarly old dinosaur squarenose!).

I went to the lake after work today and got about a half dozen attempts in. I had a hard time getting a good set up wake (I made dozens of set up wakes). I also had a hard time getting past half way until I started pullng my legs in. Thanks for the advice on that! I'm still not close to riding out though.

Well I don't have a video, so I guess I'm not in the club, but here's a recent pic that tells volumnes . . . need to have my head closer to the hood. This was off a decent sized boat wake (maybe double).

Geek, I still gotta remember. When I did what you said every time, it got me closer. Listen for the whap of the handlepole on the hood right before take off.

Looks like you stopped your rotation. Keep tucked in w/ the handle poel down, it is almost above your head. Tighten the pole up and that should help.

It does look like I stopped my rotation, but that attempt went another 90+ degrees. If I'd tighten up, they'd go all the way.

Here is about one of the only shots I ahve my my position. I can't remember if I pulled it or not, either way would not surpirse me, I get some fast rotation. I am not doing them off wakes yet, that is just flatwater and no take off wake. I have found that my problem is I like to tinker with my boat allot. So I will get close to conisitant with my rolls, change something a little and.............lets just say I will be sore the next day :haha: But I will do a full rotation at that height, about 1 ft off the water

1st pic is me warming up/ getting ready
2nd is me in mid rotation.......I like that shot........look at that smooth water all around :Banane01:
3rd was a stab roll hybrid where I finished the rotation under water...........or I flopped it I can't remember

One thing I have been trying to do is keep teh nose pointed forward to avoid a "loopy" look to the roll. I will get some video soon.

Romack, when I fly nose high like that I concentrate on driving my head and sholders down and over the edge of the ski. When I look over the top of the roll and my trailing shoulder I always end up nose high in the air and stopping about half way and eating bars. Seems like I get further around when I look under and tuck in.

I am :haha: here at work. This thread is awesome. I am just scared to get hurt. Next year I am wearing a helmet and trying something cause I will have some more 'brap' then. Definetly will want to archive this thread or keep it going until next year. Some of you guys make it look so easy, I just cant figure out how the ski will rotate like that on flat water. Maybe cause I have a kawi :dunno:

My origanal goal was to throw a BR before Christmas, and a BF by Summer. Well, I got the BR's somewhat consistent already, so maybe I will be pulling BF's before Christmas, I would love to be DQ'd at Daytona.......Ive only owned a SJ for 3 months, like 3 weeks before the last Sebby ride.

some people focus too much on their skis and not enough on themselves and their technique/focus
that is where I am. I don't have enough awareness and I look at the ski. I was looking right at my bars and look where they ended up, in my face. :banghead:

It's a good thing though, I won't do that again. I need to think clearly about what I'm supposed to do before my next attempt
