Base Gasket Squeezing Out....Help

While out riding yesterday I noticed that my base gasket is starting to squeeze out from between the case and the cylinder all around but it is mostly coming out on the exhaust side. I ran my finger along the seem line below the exhaust manifold and noticed a dark gray residue that I am guessing is burned up oil, gas, and exhaust leaking out on that side where the base gasket is breaking down.

Need advice on the following:
  • What causes the base gasket to break down like this? High compression???
  • When I go to replace this gasket is there anything else I should look for?
  • What is the best and most durable base gasket to use?
  • What should I do to prevent this from happening again once I replace the gasket?

Replace base gasket with a OEM from Yamaha, install clean and dry, torque base bolts to no less than 36 ft-lbs and you shouldn't have any more problems.

Thanks...Would the torque specs be different since I am running an ADA Girdled head?

What did you torque them to? Did you follow ADA's instructions?
If you did that's why your having gasket problems, ADA spec's are too weak.
NO LESS THAN 36 ft-lbs.

I followed ADA's torque specs...This time I will be sure to torque the head bolts down at 36 ft-lbs.
