Be courteous to everyone....

Just want to re-iterate the fact that there will be allot of people in the water next week. If you see someone in trouble help them.

For example I got separated from my ski last year and it was upside down bouncing off the sand. There were 3 people 10 ft from it looking at it. In other words go over and help. I will help anyone in trouble and would expect that from other people.

Be Courteous..

good call bro..

so your saying dont get in your way? or is that a typo?

Also if you borrow someones beach cart.. take it back to them.. I hate chasing down my beach cart.

here here...and if my ski's already on it, NO you cant borrow it.....

for the new guys, just remember, if youre gonna jump a wave and there's someone gonig for the same wave ahead of you, jsut watch out for a nosestab.... there's been lots of close nosestab calls (And some collisions) in the past.

oh, and if you borrow my boat and sink it, dont tow it back getting dragged upside down along the bottom of the ocean and make sure you get it running before you give it back to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and try not to ride parallel to the surf.. try to run perpendicular as much as possible.

ok, i'm done!

that was a raw deal....I was pissed about that one for ya!

good stuff...

do not follow anyone ever, especially when they are approaching a wave. Even if you are 15ft to the right, they may turn and do a re-entry and there you will be going head on...

Camera dude

Last year a dude on the beach asked me to whear his helmit with a camera mounted on it during the roughest part of the day. I threw it on and went out to ride and get some footage, I did not realize that I was going to be the target of every one out there! The pro guys are fine and it was a riot to have them jump 5 feet away so I could get them on tape but the amitures scared the hell out of me!! One dude hit the wave and just fell off the ski went 3 feet from my head. Now I know how Obama feels to be the target!

That was my helmet camera, and I noticed the same thing last year.

That camera rocked, we had a guy bring one to my track up here and the quality sucked compared to yours.. We are headed down again this year.

My best advice to the first timers is stay off to the side and away from shore.
You'll have more room to practice and being in deeper water there's less chance that you will bust up your nose.
Ignore the cameras, let the pros get the glory that they deserve and just do your own thing. There's a lot of cool surf away from the lenses.
I had a blast way out on the north side of the zone with lots of elbow room.

Don't leave a rider or ski stranded. It could be you next time.

If you borrow my tools don't drop them in the water or sand. If it happens (and it can) just let me know so I can take care of it before it becomes a problem.

Great Vid there...I guess everybody has to go through that learning curve sometime... I see in that video there were no other riders around. Lucky for him.

Basically, as the weekend approaches, there will be a LOT of riders with all skill levels out there. Keep the eyes open and on the back of your head (like your 4th grade teacher had). Keep it safe...Have fun! :smokin:

Was that Nick's old SN hood?

I'm coming down early so I can get some ride time in surf since this will be my first. I'm not worried about me but my wife is going to ride also . I'm trying to give her some heads up on what to expect any advice you guys think might be good for her, not that shes going to listen she already know everything.

even small surf like in that video can be unforgiving....It is EXTREMELY tiring the first couple of trips into the waves like that

you see it in the vid where he chases the boat to shore, grabs it..and sorta shakes his head

pure exhaustion, choking on water, snot all over your lips and chin....like the video said at the end "good times":jester:

just always remember mother ocean is a living breathing organism..If you dont respect her she will :):):):) you up!

here is my advise for the first timers (this will ruin my fun for the weekend). The hardest part of getting out in the good waves is getting past the shore pound. keep the nose up and don't try to ride over a breaking wave (even though you'll see other people do it easily). Even a 1' tall shore wave has enough power to knock you off the ski. a 2' wake has nothing on a 1' shore wave. This advice goes for people who've ridden inlets but not shore breaks too.

When I first started it would drive me nuts that people could ride out with no probs and I would get killed and rolled on surf pound.
