Surfriding Beach cart tire options.... let here everyones opinion

definitely get lawnmower/turf tires they are great and handle good on any surface, you can find them at tractor supply or any other store like that. I have a bigfoot 4 wheel cart with the big ballon tires it comes with from bigfoot and with my FX1 on it in the water with me on the ski the whole thing floats so it made loading and unloading a pain trying to submerge the cart when all it wanted to do was float.

What about plastic dock/boat lift wheels? Probably about as light as you're going to get.

Those look really close to my wheels. They aren't extremely wide but they have done good for me so far. Also helps that i have four wheels lol

My cart is over kill. I got it with a couch I parted but it was designed to haul the sit down to the water. I moved the bunks closer and use it around the house and dropping skis in the pool to test. I will test at the lake here in a few weeks but drill a few holes in the tires (look like wheelbarrow tires) to drain the water out. I love mine and makes a great shop cart pulling skis off the trailer with the winch. Now everything is a single person job! View attachment 275888
Oh, my! Is that your new ski????

I picked up a set of nylon composite rims from Florida Sailcraft and stuck on a set of Carlisle Fairway Pro 18X8.50-8 4 Ply Golf Cart and ATV Tires.
This is the same setup that my TBM cart came with other than upgrading the 1" aluminum driveshaft to stainless and replacing the Nylon bushings every couple of seasons.

Nylon composite rim $40.00
Stainless axle $22.00
1” nylon wheel bushing $2.00

Best pic I have available at the moment.

Any chance I could bother you for a weight on those fsc wheels and golfcart tire? At your convenience of course. My cart hangs on the rear door of my van so weight is a major factor. Thanks in advance @OCD Solutions

I never would have guessed they weight this much but I bet they are still the lightest option available.

Nylon rim with Carlisle Fairway Pro 18x8.5 turf tire is 15lbs 6oz.

I've had my wheeleez for over 7yrs. Just recently replaced the hub bearing which was cheap fortunately. As you can see the one tire did grow a big forehead when I left out in the summer sun one year.

Balloon tires are like rockcraulling, you can get anywhere with them and not be so tired before you get to the water. 260570_608094195868720_1994551229_n.jpg

Gotcha now, no that was just the one tire.

The tire itself is where the majority of the weight is. I could peel it off the rim and weigh them separate if you need.

On second though, I need another set for a project down the road so I would probably just order another pair and weigh one when it comes in.

Turfsaver 2s are 2ply tires and weigh less than common 4ply golf cart tires. There are some 2 ply slick tires but difficult to find cheap.

Found out a long time ago that tires with treads have too much rolling resistance in sand, so I narrowed that down to Roleez or smooth balloon tires (Cathauler). The pictured tire /wheel assy weighs 13 lbs 7 oz. I wanted effortless rolling even in deep sand, certainly don't want Delrin rollers or bushings that are lubricated with sand. So I used h/s trailer axle stubs, trailer hubs and even bearing buddies. The tires and hubs pictured are 22 years old, have been recycled through several dolly frames over the years ( reg. steel rusts quickly). On level hardtop I can move dolly and ski with just 2 fingers on the handle, through sand, into surf or up a boat ramp -well that's what I have 2 hands for.P1050234.JPG P1050235.JPG P1050236.JPG P1050237.JPG P1050238.JPG
