Other Beach carts and trailers

Whats is every one using on the trailer bunks and beach carts? I was useing indoor/outdoor carpet but its been wearing out the bottom of my hull pretty good

A couple of year ago i put some trex synthetic wood bunks on my trailer and is slides great, still can scar or remove paint. This year I am going to buy a couple of stainless bunks with rollers. The first trailer I bought had them.

I was thinking about the roller blade wheels for a while when I did my beach cart. Right now I have some very slippery industrial "trex" type decking. The stuff was actually 2x8 dimensions. It was from a fishing boat builder. The single 4' board got ripped in half and I used half for each bunk.

When I redo my trailer, I'm thinking about 2x4 treated lumber, but then go to my plastics dealer and have them cut me some strips of 3/4" UHMW 1.5" wide, then counter sink screw that to the top of the lumber. Probably router the edges a bit and call it good. Either that or get more of that "trex" stuff from that boat shop.

The one thing about using anything slippery for bunk material is that you NEED to have the pin in or the strap on when backing down a boat launch or you skis will end up on the launch. Right now I unpin/unstrap my skis up top, the carpet holds them really well.

I am building a boat house at my lake home. I am planning on using 2x8 treated bunks wrapped in carpet. I plan on coating the carpet with liquid rollers spray. I havent used it yet,but heard its great. Read the reviews on it.

I have a set of roller blade bunks that is on the floor of my enclosed trailer. it works great, no marks or scratches. only down side is that you better tie down the ski or have a stop at the front.

I've always thought the wheels were a little overboard but they seem like a good idea if you really want to get into it. They leave a clear mark, so pretty much none at all and easily and cheaply replaced.

I know there are other materials like listed about that you can just screw in or bolt that has that "slippery" surface to it that you can obtain at boat shops and what not. Like Cannibal posted though, you need to be careful where you unhook. I have no probably unhooking while in the water though so that wouldn't be much or any of a downside to me.

I have always done carpet on my bunks, and it always works very well. But I might have to do a trailer if I buy more skiis so I think I am going to lay down some pvc on my open atv trailer.

My trailer has rollers/wheels. Very easy to load and unload. The only problem I have ever had is someone trying to help. They shove it up on the trailer like they would on carpet and slam the nose into the front bracket. Chipped some paint...

DON'T EVER turf your beach stand, trailer bunks, or beach cart!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!! :cussing:

Even when wet turf sticks to your hull and makes loading and unloading SUCK!

I bout a beach stand that the previous owner had turfed. If you never want the ski to slide off and you want your loading/unloading to tire you out, then do it.

PVC is the way to go in my opinion.

rollers in the bed(trailer), and i went to ACE Hardware and used "bunk turf" for my stand.... i don't own a beach cart.
The combo of rollers to bunk turf work out really nice for me.
