Beginner snowboard

Burton makes awesome all-around boards! The bend of my burton ripcord is a v-rocker which i believe is camber under your feet and rocker in the middle. I love mine and I use mine for everything from powder in Avalanche areas to flying 15 feet high into the bag jump, I should have some pictures somewhere from when I hiked to the top of a mountain last spring to ride the fresh powder! My previous board had flow bindings but I had the old models that sucked! I have some park pictures, and will dig out some more from the mountains

I just got a new burton ripcord from rei for I believe $200 shipped http://m.rei.com/product/874863/burton-ripcord-snowboard-20142015
It's no longer available as its a 14/15 model from what I read etc it's a great all around board. I had a button blunt and loved it but it was more of a park board rather then an all mountain. I also have flow bindings which in IN im sure IL is the same your longest run is 2 min tops so your in and out of the bindings all day. I've had mine for 3-4 years and they have came loose 1 time in WV other then that I have no complaints. Are you able to ride different style of boards before you purchase? Only reason I ask is years ago I was set on a lib tech skate banana board luckily a friend had one I was able to ride and I wasn't a fan.

I have a friend who has been in magazines reviewing all different boards that he was asked to test by all of the top manufacturers and has spent years instructing. He has owned probably near a hundred boards, all different brands. He only buys never summer boards now because he says they are hands down the toughest boards to break.... And this guy breaks boards. I know you are just a beginner but you might as well pick up a board that will take any abuse you can throw at it as you progress.

There is nothing worse than a super flexible unresponsive board. They just feel dead to me. Camber and Stiff. Only way to go

You are going to love that board! I have the exact one (157) fairly flexible and pretty responsive. I also find it doesn't catch edges as easy as other boards! But make sure you buy the correct baseplates because it has the channel system I have more pictures of my board too if you'd like to see the plates I have and if you would like to see the channel system

Thanks I hope I like it since I already sold my old one. Ya I had to buy the m6 disc to fit the channel boards. My old burton blunt was a 2006 so i hope I like the camber style

I ride a libtech banana attack, its a hybrid board. It has a great edge for riding on fake hard snow / ice. i have ride rodeo bindings, they are fine and NIKE BOOTS are a must! Get the nike sb boots they are so comfortable.

stay away from burton, main stream and much better products are out there!

Can't go wrong with anything never summer. I've retired mine but it served me well for a looooong time. Picked up a leftover K2 carveair last year and it re lit my passion for boarding, such a fun responsive ride. Probably not the best choice for a beginner but I can't wipe the smile off my face on even the worst of days riding it.
