Super Jet Bendix bushings help

Revised. STILL NEED HELP. SEE POST #16.

Need some help. The bendix would not engage and when we freed it we found to have lots of play. Further inspection we found that the brass or bronze bushings is all cracked up.
What is the easiest way to get it out?
Where do you buy a replacement?
And how would you reinstall?

Old trick with bushings:

Fill bushing hole full of grease, then find a punch that just fits through the bushing. Hit the punch with a hammer and the hydraulic action will force the bushing out the hole. A little heat around the bushing doesn't hurt either. In this case, be very careful of heat and your crank seals.

This only works with blind holes obviously.

Also, check the McMaster Carr parts list on this site. I know it's listed somewhere in there....

I'm not positive, I was talking out of my ass.
I replaced a set five years ago, I must have remembered it wrong. Sorry guys.

I put the new bushing in and it took tons of play out of the bendix. so i put it all back together to only get it to engage with no cranking. i pulled the cover and the bendix is stuck on the flywheel and i cant disengage it. im able to turn the flywheel one way to engage the bendix more but when i turn it the other way it stops. almost like there is something behind it not letting it go back. Could it be that the engine is seized and wont crank? Should i be able to turn the flywheel and hear the prop moving? any thoughts?

disengage the bendix, pull the plugs and try and spin the motor over.

The plugs were out the other day when I was there, this was before the bendix bushing and it didn't want to turn over easily. Shortly after that while installing the new flywheel it started moving. The engine will turn either direction about a eighth turn and you can hear the prop in the wear ring turning. I should have thought to check the pump then. I didn't want to put too much pressure turning it over with the flywheel bolt for fear of twisting the crank.

I'm wondering if the pump isn't caked with sand or something and the motor doesn't want to spin. The key didn't show any signs of wanting to shear or anything like that when he yanked the flywheel. I think the next step is to pull the coupler cover and try to turn the couplers, and if that doesn't work, yank the head and see if anything funky is going on.

Has anyone ever bent the starter shaft?

i would say pull your pump and determine if the motor or pump is frozen before moving further. I thought that stuff was checked already.
