Freestyle Bendix / Starter stripping

Went through everything today, found earth to back of stator plate was bad
Seems to be sorted now. Did about 10 starts on trailer and then went and rode, did some carb tuning, restarted about 6 times, ski ran flawlessly
Lisa from ATP has been emailing every day, with more things to try as we eliminate possibilities, so backup service has been pretty good.

Not trying to be a dik but chances are its on your end ,imo. if it wasn't after all this , you could school them on their known problems ,since you bought this system new right ?

I am basically 'schooling' them. This seems to be from a lug that was crimped on instead of soldered. A few months ago the ski would have no spark sometimes, found the crimp-wings in the programming plug were shorting out to one of the pins. All problems are from things that should have been done differently during manufacturing.
I just hope this is the last of it, need to get some riding in.

The grounding lug on msd enhancers and epics are not soldered either. Get saltwater in your ebox and grounding issues are easily possible from corrosion on this critical connection. But if you solder it yourself then you risk voiding your warranty.

What exactly are you guys calling a lug? I know total loss like the back of my hand and I'm not picturing anything. Common grounding point? The wire connection inside the potting?

I'm trying to figure out how soldering a wire voids a warranty.

For the record I dont solder. I Suck At it. I use professional crimpers and bullets that I fill with grease or connect with weatherproof heat shrink connectors or connect to connection rings that I grease and heat shrink. Grease and heat shrink are my friends.

The only reason i say this is it seems more times than not that threads started to criticize or that may discredit a manufacturer ,are stemmed from issues that the installer created ie : faulty craftsmanship wiring or used parts ect . i was also quick to try blame ATP when i had issues but it turns out it was on my end ,like i'm saying though after reading many threads that turn out to be installer error or simply wear and tear .i think sometimes we shouldn't be so quick to point out flaws when a lot on here are our own mechanics .hope i didn't come off wrong ,its just that i know if your experience was like mine ATP went above and beyond to help remedy the problem and will most likely stand behind their product if it was a new purchase.

It has been freshwater use only
Warranty is only 90 days, so is long expired
I was looking for a solution with my original post, others convinced me(incorrectly it seems though) that it was a common problem for the TS2 to go bad.

My atp came with those same connections all through the billet ebox. The first thing I did was redo all of them. Better safe than sorry. Glad you were sorted out. Atp was very helpful with every issue I have ever had with their ignitions which was always software issues except for the reflash I had to do after destroying a starter and bendix and knocking the ring off my flywheel. No problems after the re flash on my 1105.

hardware stores sell shrink wrap loop ends and bullets so you can crimp and then shrink wrap the connector. Rather than those cheap blue crimps in your pic here

Were those blue crimp ends from epic!? Lol
Heat shrinking is over rated. If you dont grease the bare wire before you crimp it, whats the point. Get heatshrink w adhesive inside if your going to use it. But just as you grease the male female connectors when you go through your ebox you need to grease the bare wire if you are putting a lug on.
