Best aftermarket hand pole??

I just like to free-ride around the lake with occasional small freestyle stuff, and I currently have a blowsion steering set up with 0 bars and a stock pole. How short do I want to go without being setup for strictly freestyle? Seems like there is some poles that can be adjusted to length at the lake and others like the rrp that requires disassemble to adjust the length.. Any input will help

I like my ATP pole. Easily adjustable and a better value than the RRP.

Love my RRP. You can adjust it at the lake, just need a couple 8mm wrenches, about a 6 mm allen socket and torque wrench. I'm at -3 right now, but im thinking about going shorts, I'm 5'11.

I use '04 superjet for surf, flatwater, racing, cruising, whatever. I cut my stock pole -3 and was pretty happy. I later installed a UMI turn plate when took me another -1.

You have a few less expensive options if you are on a tight budget. The UMI and other such plates are -1, and they also let you run straight bars. I got a very good deal on a UMI with a RRP bar for $100, although if you can't find used then you can buy new for $150-$200. That is a waste of money for adjustability alone, but do your research ahead of time and select parts you can use with your future AM pole.

The UMI with straight bar gives me 3 options for length.

Stock with 0* (-3")
UMI with 0* (-4")
UMI with straight bar (-5")

Changing your bars or turn plate also changes your pivot so its not the same as an adjustable pole. However, it is an affordable way to adjust your riding position.

Unless you plan to change your pole length every time you ride, a stock pole cut to the correct length is everything you need until you progress to a point that you can break it.

Realistically, the turn plate and bars you select should be based on the pivot angle you like.

Did you break your OEM pole? If not, it sounds like you don't really need an aftermarket pole, unless you just want to be "In the club". So far, Vumad's post above is the best advise

I did not break my pole, but it seems like people swap to aftermarket to move them farther forward for better control at tricks/subs etc... I just don't want to get to far forward where it is uncomfortable to go on a 5 mile ride.

From the description of your intended riding, I think shortening your OEM pole would be the ticket. It will save you a ton of cash and is fairly easy to do. I would recommend shortening it 3" on the bottom. Read this thread to tell you exactly how to do it;

However, If you're still set on aftermarket, and if your leaning towards the RRP then there is a cheaper option . I cant remember what there called but they look damn near identical to the RRP and they are also adjustable. I think they are around $5-600 complete. PM Joey Morneault (X-h20 User name; Rdrttoy) for details. You can always go with one of the other poles already mentioned in this thread, all are good options, its really boils down to personal preference.

Some good points made. The only reason i went to aftermarket pole is because i snapped my stock pole into multiple peaces during my first barrel roll attempts. I probably wouldn't of broken my pole if i was running a limiting rope , I was new and didn't know any better lol.

Kinda like the Wabunzun from years ago? It definitely is a great idea for functionality that hasn't been brought up.
