Best free photo editing program?

Anyone know of a good free photoshop type program. Im really looking for a good basic program for uploading pics and doing some minor editing. I didnt know if theres a good free one or not. I got a new laptop and I hate the photo program that come with it.

MS Paint? I couldn't resist. Search YouTube for soem MS Paint tips. Those people drawing the Mona Lisa on there are freaking nuts!

Gimp is good and has lots of features.
If you want a quick and dirty crop/lighten/resize/view program that doesn't take up a lot of resources try Irfanview.

I prefer GIMP but have heard good things about Paint.NET.

Picasa is a good "legal" one. Otherwise, get Photoshop CS with Imageready off Limewire, and get the key code crack with it to get it for free...

I got picasa, its idiot proof so it suits me well. It was free too. I also downloaded AVG for my virus protection. Thanks for all the info guys.

What about Irfanview?

That looks and acts almost like photoshop. It's totally free.

if you want something that acts likd photoshop and has a lot of support you should get the photoshop plug in for the gimp.
