Leave it as is and when your done with it use the money you get for selling it to buy a factory pipe for your Superjet.

Sorry, it's true. I grew up Kawasaki and now i love my Superjet.

hey kawi 101, don't let these guys get to you! just about everyone started on kawi 650, or 550.
0. stainless steel ss prop impeller 15 or 16 or so
1. bilge pump. install one near the firewall as close to the driveshaft as you can
2. straighter bars
3. finger trigger throttle
4. intake grate
5. rideplate ride plate
6. bigger carb with jetting, or carbs ..
6.5 pipe
7. when you rebuild the motor go higher compression.
8. don't spend too much money on modifications
9. have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to have to go with what Ross suggested in one of your other threads. Ride ride ride... Just start riding, I would spend more time leaning some tricks and less time worrying about mods.

Some footwells or lifters will help you with subs, and inverts.

I would also have to agree with the idea of saving your money that you would have blown on upgrades for a superjet if you decide you are serious about getting into freestyle and have out grown your 650.

I started on a 650SX, but that's because the SJ hadn't been made yet... lol
I feel old now...

Seriously, what carb do have on there? Depending on the year 650SX, you may have the tiny stock 28mm carb. That would be the first thing to go. Find a Keihin 42mm carb and bore the stock manifold hole to accept it. The bolt pattern is the same. So that is a cheap mod that will gain a lot of bottom and top end. You could go Mikuni 44mm carb, but you would have to find a differennt manifold(more $$)
Also get rid of that oem alum impeller. I used to run a 15.5 standard hub skat, but there may be a better one for that ski since those days. Then a pipe will compliment those things VERY nicely. I had the blue westcoast and it worked flawlessly, but I have heard that the Coffmans was a bit better for the 650 motor.
I remember filing those stock intake holes rounder and smooth on the top of the hood and using those as handholds with some hydroturf.. Also get rid of the stock 15 degree gay "V" handle bars if you havent already and get a quick turn plate and new straight bars. Thats a good start for sure for a 650SX for freestyle and if your buying the stuff used, it's cheap. I also advance the static timing on mine too. A night and day difference with just those parts on. Ride that for a year like crazy and then upgrade.
Reinforcing is a good thing since the whole ski is SMC material and cracks and shatters like no other! but it depends on how hardcore your gonna beat on it.

well, if that avatar is a pic of the rider..then maybe a SJ isnt feasable at this time......

dude, just ride it....EVeryone is right, you want a SJ if you want to f/s...

for budget mods for your ski:

used prop
bump your compression
footholds

call it a day and start riding and saving $$$$

You can get a solid 701 squarenose for 1500-2000 with all the right mods and you will be setup for a LONG time

i too agree about investing the $$ in the kawi.
i have had the pleasure of riding 650's and loved em (until 01 when i rode my first SJ) then bought one in 02.

however the 650's i had were VERY heavily modified and total blast to ride. i did ride a stock 89 that she had. OMG what a difference, i actually didn't call it riding, i called it murder.

the problem now is finding parts for the 650, and the age of the machine and condition to invest mod $$. personally not worth it, unless you add in an educational use to learn how to build, mod, and tune a ski, then that persoanlly is priceless. i do regret getting rid of my 92 as those parts i had on it are priceless now and super rare to find now-a-days.

prop wise for the kawi, again depending what you can afford, call Dave at impros and get the Skat 8-16 prop with the mod on it. all i can say is WOW what a prop.

hey man keep in mind you can find a stock sqaure for around 500. I bought mine for 700 with a nice trailer. Runs great and nothin wrong with it. Just an unsed "eyesore" from the owver in nj i guess. And not even a week later Curtis at RandR2stroke friggin pull one practicly out of my back yard for 500 without a trailer that was close to mint... better shape then most!!!.. good score you azz:biggthumpup: lol .. just a thought so bacicly you could save up like 150 bucks and sell ur ski and have a sj

While not impossible, that's extremely rare.
