Tubbies was the most noticeable. The pump swap only made a real difference in the foam. I still have a completely stock engine, so im sure a pipe and head will be up there with tubbies once i can afford it.

not sure i never rode a stock fx-1... i just did all at once plus some... 144 Tom21 pump tunnel with 13/19 swirl/ tbm pump cone. Tom21 bigger replacement tray . Set back pump 2 inches, Tom21 tubbies. XMetal baby scream on a dry pipe... really best thing i did was let i believe you ride it and tell me it rode great...

From the first to the last .
Tubbies , kawi pump , 144 solas mag , setback pump , widde tray , integrated pole mount .

only downside is i don't know what will be next mod except a xmetal 865 :naughty:

Not trying to get to far off topic, I bought my first REAL ski. A fx-1. I wanna do the pump swap this winter I have a 140 kawi laying around and I could buy a 144 yami. Which one is easier to swap in and can someone tell me how to do it or post a couple build links because I can't find any.

Kawi swap will be much cheaper esp if you already have the pump. It isn't that much more work if you are planning a defoam at the same time.

Plenty of info on here if you search. In a nutshell you grind and glass until the pump fits. Run a 900zxi driveshaft. Stock midshaft housing with a bearing pressed in and 4 shaft seals (search and you'll find part #s), yamaha couplers tread on the kawi shaft, fx1 intake grate will bolt to the 140 pump. I had to run around a 10mm standoff on the stock steering cable end but it worked with x2 trim nozzle flipped over.

You can also drill and tap the 140 pump mount gusset for a xmetal trim cable if you want to run trim.

Why taint a Yamaha with Kawi parts? The 144 involves the same stuff.lol

I went with a 144 pump in mine for a couple reasons, but if i were to do it again, id go with a kawi driveline. i hate to say it, but the yamaha driveline design is weak. Kawi has a superior design over yami. This is however the only thing better about a kawi i can think of...

Did you do the kawi pump mod then switch to the 144 solas???? If so how big a difference??

Yes i've done the kawi pump mod en then switch to the 144 with solas mag.

I can compare egal because a lot of another things have been done in the same time .

the kawi pump was with the TBM super cone ( great hook up improvement with a C75 skat prop)

Now with the 144 pump i've a full intake from a SJ aka intake grate , pump tunnel and drive shaft ( pump is setback 2 inch) so the comparaison is not fair...

Kawi pump mod is cheap except if you want a good prop . and doesn't involve extensive resin work.
kawi pump need to be moded if you want a full sealed bearing pump (mine need it sooo bad)
liner isn't cheap to replace ... i ride in sea so this is a big issue.

Sj pump can be full custom :
Solas mag , trim , plastic liner for the wear ring . setback pump is easy with sj shaft.
Plate is an issue with sj pump but tom21 parts will make your life easier .

I've done the two conversion and i didn't regret the time involved in the SJ swap .
