Best glue for Dakine straps

I am about to receive my straps, and plan on installing them using the nut and washer method. Which is the best glue to stick the washers to the hull? Regular Epoxy Resin? Or some kind of other epoxy glue?
Any tips to improve the sticking, other than sanding and cleaning with acetone?

Thanks

lay glass over the insert or it wont hold..

I do the straps a little different now too... no more washer and acorn nut. I just encapsulate a piece of aluminum 1" x 1" x .5" in epoxy w/ cabosil and then drill and tap the aluminum w/ 1/4" x 20 SS. bolt. It seems to be very solid...

Creative RE Purchasing
Epoxy with milled fibers will hold a house together, nevermind a washer to a fibergrass tray....

No I didn't try it on a strap.

Easy on the hating Baller...
from my personal experience it didn't work that way.

Standard epoxy doesn't stick well to metal from what I have read on this site.

If anybody has gotten standard epoxy to stick to the acorn nuts, it was probably b/c the washer/acorn was encased so much in the epoxy and then the epoxy stuck the fiberglass. Just my opinion.

I'd agree with that......

well i forget what west systems epoxy is made for bonding dissimilar materials (403?) it says for bonding to metal or wood thats what i used and it didnt work...i think with a bit of cloth over it and it should be fine..

they say it will work better if you etch the metal first, but it's not totally necessary. The problem seems to occur when the aluminum starts to oxidize and if it's totally sunk in resin that won't happen...

also, I forgot to mention I was using beads mixed into the epoxy to make it thicker...

either use a piece of glass to lay over the top of the washer section to keep it on the tray (b/c just pure epoxy will not hold to the metal), or use a plastic welder type of epoxy.

Thing is, I am not in the US, so I´d have to find a similar glue. I can source resin and fiberglass, but working with some kind of epoxy glue (such as what you call Jbweld) is much easier. The glue used in the FAQ, is it resin? Or is it some kind of epoxy 2 parts glue?

also when i tried it i just cut a square out of the turf..maybe doing it before your turfed helps cause you can get more filler down??

see my pix...didnt make a difference, and I ride in the strap 100% of the time..

I have broken a couple of inserts at the weld, but have never had one break loose from the epoxy..

in fact, the pix of that one I posted was done with regular old fiberglass resin....NOT epoxy
