Freestyle Best lithium battery for total loss?

I can understand how the wrong charger and/or overcharging could cause a problem.

But are you suggesting spontaneous combustion is also possible?

I've used lithium batteries in RC and ski's for years without issue, and even had them in motorcycles with 'standard' charging system.

Means Tesla 75kWh batteries could take down a few neighbors

Based on my experience with AG, stick to a 16-cell. I used to have a 24-cell and it destroyed starters, was pushing armature forward, bending lipped washer, which would eventually touch windings and short them out, don't have the problem with the 16

i put liquid electrical sealant/tape on terminals. BUT if you do put some sealant on, im pretty sure all warranty will fall. So the lithium i run now, i didn't do anything to - to be able to claim warranty if it goes dead.

^ Same here, after one went bad this year. The newer AG's have o-rings between terminal and case. A single layer of electrical tape around seam as insurance won't hurt and you can remove for warranty.

Battery tender 480cca for me. Silicone on seals and terminals. Comes off with a lot of handling and has to be redone occasionally but removable for warranty if need be. Mine has lasted 2 years. Always used battery tender charger for it. Stays disconected when not in use. It has never ran out of juice from riding with total loss.

I have had 2 battery tender batteries fail on me now. sealed them with silicone but not the terminals which may have been the problem. Trying to get them warrantied now and see what happens.

I’ve been using the Advance Auto lithium batteries now. After paying over $200 for anti gravities that last 6 months, I rather pay $100 for one that lasts over a year. I’ve been much happier. I run total loss in the surf and battery takes a lot of abuse, but I always charge it with a LiFe charger and I feel I get my money’s worth.

Please report back on the BT warranty claim. I’m 2yrs into one in my Ducati & absolutely love it, lives on the matching BT charger in garage & is flawless. Definitely not very water proof looking which is why I have not bought one for the skis, on their site there is language about not for wet applications & listings for PWC batteries - mucho confusing!

Edit - I do not run TL systems so can’t comment but very interested in converting over to Lithium for the skis.
