I like my Bilge pump right beside the midshaft due to the fact when sitting still '''' Like when you get chucked from the ski ''the water will be in front of the bulkhead , I also use a'' j-drain or duckbill ''either one or both on the transom ,these work perfect for me and will keep the hull dry to the point of not even using the bilge most of the time . If you use an OEM hood seal and your hood is adjusted snug with all other seals being watertight then the bilge is only needed if you dump the ski on its side or sub it . I find that if you keep a ''well sealed'' b-1 upright, even in the worst surf that my duckbill will remove any water that sneaks in . FWIW I only use OEM hood seals on my b-1's'', You will get what you pay for when you buy a hood seal but I think you know that already . I like the duckbills and J-drains because its one less metal object sticking out of the hull to get impaled with in the surf .sorry for the runon !! BTW .. ski looks very nice '' wifey will be very happy im sure ! All this is IMO and stands to be corrected by more experienced B-1ers !

Yea its got one duckbill now and the stock siphon, just adding an electric pump for insurance in the ocean. Thanks for the advice, as I had a feeling it should go behind the motor and not under the battery. I watched Shougrider go over about an 8 foot falls in pac city last month going superman into the whitewash and dissappear. Fortunatly both popped up with no issues but a sore back.....

I would consider one duckbill on each side , just to dump it that much faster during forward motion , once your underway the water goes to the rear even if the bilge is not done yet ,and you may not want to stick around for the next wave set and then its all up to ONE 3/4 inch DB drain .

i have mine under the battery box and it seems to work fine. i do notice that sometimes it does take me getting on the ski for it to really start pumping water out, but usually its only what it took on a small amount of water. i split the transom open while riding last year and i'm really glad that it was mounted in the back. i would have never made it in!!
