So i have always used cheaper products for my stock skis and have always had no issues. The next motor I will be purchasing will be in the 900-1000cc area. What oil is the best bang for the buck. I will most likely go with a pump gas TPE 964 stock stroke motor. I have heard things of Amsoil and yamilube. I just smelled the exhaust from a ski using castor oil and it smelled sweet. Besides the smell of the exhaust afterwards what benifits compared to the Penzzoil I can get at wallmart.

Looking to hear what the advantages are of the more expensive oil (id assume additives and better lubrication) but want to hear the masses on the subject. Also, which one is the most used commonly of the freestylers running these bigger motors and is the best quality without breaking the bank. thanks

Amsoil interceptor is a very high quality oil, has powervalve protection additive. I will be using this for my 1100 and use it on my current 701. Only problem is when mixed with pump gas there is no color change so make sure you don't loose track of what's mixed and what is mot

^ yes thats what worried me cuz the ski i saw he said castor oil was in had a clear look to it. Id prefer something with a tint to it just to be sure or just will have to pay extreme attention to.

Amsoil in my custom TPE built engine from day one and forever more. Make friends with a local dealer and get it for their price of about $30 a gallon. As far as mixing it, make it your standard to always add oil to the jug before filling with fuel.

^Very true. Glad your running it with a TPE as well. I figure there will be no difference between the amsoil or castor but probably compared to the cheaper oil. just wanted to hear thoughts from riders first before i talk to engine builders when i actually pull the trigger on one

Well Amsoil is a synthetic oil and castor is a natural oil...

Castor is a poor choice for any power valved motor. I love R-50, and use it in all my stuff. I've never run Amsoil 2-stroke personally, but I've known more than a couple guys that have had issues. I think it's more of how they mix it, b/c they claim you should mix it at 100:1.

Ive run R-50 before with good results, currently i run amsoil either dominator or interceptor. But i mix it like you would with any 2 stroke oil and run it at 40:1-44:1
havent had a problem with it yet, been running it for 2 seasons in all 3 of my skis.

I run maxima 927 in anything I care about. Ran it for years on power valve engines with no issues.

Sounds like the majority is R50. I will have to find out best play to get this if nearby me. Or are you guys buying online?
