unless you have it ported and other mods all the pipes are going to be about the same. Kerker would probably be the best for the JS's. Or a dynacorp dual exhaust.

The only pipe to make more power than the stock exhaust was the Factory Pipe Limited Pipe (Half Pipe). The Jet Power can actually really works...........

Westcoast had a half pipe also, I had forgotten about that. Coffmans also. But I would stay away from a full pipe unless you get port work done.

A westcoast full pipe will run you half of what a half pipe would cost.. And you need adapter and coupler if all you find is a pipe.

Idk about that.. Sure the jet power are a big improvement from the 80's. But a westcoast is still drastically better then the bread box. The manifold to box is good. Hence why they make half pipes to take the place of the bread box. A full pipe is way less restrictive. Try it out for yourself. That's the only way you'll know for sure! We can debate all day, switch from a jet power to a westcoast and back and forth and see what you think. Motor work, prop, and a pipe is where you'll get all your HP.

I just bought a coffmans 1/2 pipe for my sx because it has better reviews than all the full pipes except the pjs for reed motors. A guy on pwctoday has a nice pjs full system and manifold for 250 I almost bought

I pulled off my FP Half Pipe on my 89 550 and put the Box back on. Down low power was better with the bread box. On my 91 I used the FP Reed Half Pipe. It ran really good. Installed a FP full pipe and power went kinda flat and not as crisp. Oh Well......

I agree with BK on this one...Stock 86 ^ breadbox is better than most full pipes. The factory (or equivalent) half pipe is a step up from that.
If I had to run a full pipe, the coffmans classic would be my preference.

So basically full pipes won't give you any power unless a ported engine, and half pipes will give you more power. So what do I get if I port my engine. What out of all of the suggestions given will give me best power on a ported 88 js550 piston port engine

There are several PJS pipes that was made, there was one that was better than most. Westcoast was good, you could cut the tail cone to tune it but once you cut.. well, you get the pic. Factory Pipe had a full body pipe that was good and tunable but they are hard to find. Minturn B pipe
