Best way to check for wet foam in an SJ?

SXR-FOREVER

A buddy wants to see if his foam is wet because it feels like its heavier than its ever been.

Can you check by just cutting into the tray or do we need to check somehere lower just in case its not all wet?

Help an SJ nube out!

Thanks

drill a hole in the back of the ski on the chine. you will know the condition of the foam very quickly.
but ill tell you right now its gonna be wet.

i just drilled a little hole in the lowest and farthest place under the ski. not even a drop came out. its either dry or all the foam soaked it up. i also moved my holds up 2 inches about a month ago and the foam was completely dry. its also a 90 sn hull maybe i got lucky?

It will be damp for sure but I have never been able to get more than a few ounces out. Get two bathroom scales and weigh the ski. Put a scale at the rear edge of the rideplate and the other at the front bumper with a short block.

I found that mine was wet when I drilled a hole in the pump area to put in my trim system. Water started pouring out. You can always drill threr and run a piece of conduit. If you don't use it for trim make it a second cooling line or cap it off after you seal it.
