Freestyle Best way to hit wakeboard boat wake??

Really depends on your boat set-up, My family has a 23ft Malibu Wakesetter (heavy boat) with 1250lbs of factory water ballast, adjustable wedge(shapes the wake and 1200lbs of downforce) and an extra 1900lbs for surfing. My boat will throw a big enough surf wave that it can swamp itself if the driver doesn't know what their doing. Going surf speeds which are about 10-13mph on the boat I would hit the one closest to the stern, I am waiting for some of the 615freeriders to come hit the wake this summer and see what they can do with it. My brother launched his waveblaster 1 off them and I was impressed

Always stay 100ft back unless you have the hook up...ie friends boat(s) on private lake, etc. competitors license is a plus if $hit goes down.

The pre launch is determined by how much power u have. The key is to not overdo it. The more power u have the less you need to hook up going into the wave. approach the wake at about 1/8th to 1/4 throttle. Hit the gas one time very quickly over the first wave then nail it to maximize the amount of area/time on the ramp of the wave at WOT.

The second wave is only bigger when the boat is on plane. If you don't know the boat owner, hit the second wave from a safe distance. Never hit it inline with the boat, as this is how people find themselves parked in the boat when the owner decides to slow down.

If you know the person, the 1st wave to the boat is always going to be best. The boat should plow like they do for a wake surfer. The best place to hit it will depend on what you are trying to do, just like a surf wave in the ocean. The biggest cleanest lip is right before the break, just like in the surf.

I have a stock superjet so I like to hit the wave between 30-45* depending on the condition of the wave. This was also the case with my 650sx. I would imagine if I had a AM hull that was rockered with trim that I would hit it straight on for max height. Sometimes I do hit it straight on with my superjet, but again, it depends on the condition of the wave and the speed I am going to hit it. Better wave allows more direct approach without plowing.

I feel like it all depends...

If you have a boat you are friendly with have it plow water and hit it RIGHT behind the boat..it has the POP for airtime.

If you see a big butt cruiser going by at like 20mph the second wake is going to be bigger and safer to hit because there is less chance you will get poop from being all up on his poop. I try to time the pre hop in to the trough to throttle all the way up the coming lip.
