Best way to install a ride plate?

Location
NJ
I just bought a used stock ride plate, i plan on putting silicone in and around the bolt holes. Should i silicone around the whole plate as well?

I put a drop of lock tight on each bolt. A drop not much to keep them from falling out.

you can do a few small dabs of silicon between the plate and the hull. This can help if you loose some bolts. do not 100% silicone in the plate. Believe it or not it will effect the handling.

ive never used silicone, as cavitation there doesnt matter. But a dab of locktite on a the bolts will help you from losing it to the lake.

Never over torque on a fiberglass areaas you can rick serious damage 25 is far to much I recommend just tightening till it tight by hand and I also recommend loctite

huhh?

ok, i'll bite. why?

My guess is too much globbed on all over the plate to hull surface will lower the plate and increase nose down pressure.

As for filling the voids around the plate to hull after it is bolted up, I would assume that will help things, not hurt.

The TBM on my limited SXR had 'vents' in it.

If you install a plate, and then Caulk the seams. It messes up the handling of your ski. I did it a long time ago. Went to the beach. Did not go 200 yds and pulled to the shore. Took a screwdriver and scraped all of it off. She handled just fine afterwards.

Why does the stock ride plate have holes where there is no threads? The middle hole in the ride plate on both sides doesn't line up with anything. The part number matched with the OEM plate... weird

I'm assuming you have a 2008 or newer Superjet. They went back to the old 1990-1995 Squarenose ride plate for that ski but did not utilize the middle holes.
