Best Way to Ship Pump

Going to be shipping a pump with the driveshaft still in it. Wondering what kind of packaging you all have done. I do not want to hack together a couple cardboard boxes. Want to make sure it gets there in one piece.

I hate sending pumps. Best way I’ve found is get a box big enough with room at the ends for a 1/4” scrap piece of plywood. If the box is dropped right the shaft will poke thru the box no matter what padding you use. Cut the plywood the same size as the box ends, you need two to do both ends. Get a can of spray foam insulation. Spray a small layer on the bottom of the box and quickly lay a big trash bag over the foam and set the pump on the bag. The foam will expand and form to the pump and also hold the plywood in place. After it’s dry I cover pump with another bag and add just a little more foam in a couple spots to fill the voids. Don’t add to much. Make sure no foam gets on the pump or shaft.
It’s over kill but it works.

I like that idea. I don't have a box though that's my main issue. Can you find boxes at local stores that work?

I was thinking taking off the reduction nozzle and trims and shipping it in a large plastic bin. Just wrap everything up individually in there.

Go to a store that sells string trimmers/weed Wackers/hedge trimmers etc. Ask for a box or for them to save one for you. Shipped a couple pumps that way. Pretty positive the stihl ones even have a center section that holds the driveshaft up like it's meant to be. String trimmer box you'll most likely have to shorten but I'm thinking their Kombi System box fits without trimming. Room for padding all around too. Just call a place with your dimensions and should be easy enough.

Once you get a box, protect both ends like Baja suggested. Mine wasn't and the shaft came out one end while the steering nozzle was out the other end
