Best way to wipe out!!!??

I've had a question for awhile and watched a lot of videos so I figured I'd ask some pro's. This summer I'll be on flat water, in September I'll be moving to the beach so next summer I'll be in surf!!! Anyway whats the best way to wipe out on a failed back flip or BR if landing upside down or what not?? Do you just go stiff let the weight just push you down???Or bail??? Or what?? I'm no where near doing these yet just wondering in case the time comes I go for it and it doesn't work out. Was wondering about flatwater and surf.

Don't let go.
You want the ski and yourself to be one mass, not two.

And if you do let go, do so conciously and kick as far away from it as possible.

If you EVER become seperated from the ski (worst case scenario) make sure it dont land on you if you can, and wear a helmet! Ride with a buddy. Your fine if you land upside down with the ski, but not if you seperate and hit the water first and then the ski hits you

does it hurt much if you keep your feet locked into your holds while doing a roll but you land sideways? i allways thought that might hurt your ankles but i didnt know because your one with the ski im not sure.

My only unconscious in the water, trip to the hospital, broken up body, 3 months off work and lots of physical therapy was from a last minute decision to dismount. It rapidly turned into a remount at the water level. The pump area of a ski is a lot harder than ribs and femur bones! I have not bailed since, but then again I don’t do backies or barrels yet.

If you are going to wipe out.........don't do it infront of allot of hot girls. :haha: And don't let go unless you are comming straight down and can just land off to the side.

for beginners... don't ever let go...

I've landed flat on my back from 20 + feet and it does hurt, but not as bad as the ski landing on you. You can kick your feet out on a uinderrotated flip, but never let go of the ski w/ hands at the same time, always kick your feet and hold the bars so you can move the ski away from you as you are falling...

People that go huge kinda need to sometimes, but you won't need to worry about that for a while...

Dont Let go..... If you Huck that Shiot... Stay with it.
Unless your going for monster backys where under or over rotating can
break you. then ditch, but 99% stay with it.

Only other time to ditch is if your under rotated in anything and in a 1' of
water.... That sucks and usually breaks skis and bodies...
Not recommended !

I have pancaked some big stuff, and never been hurt from landing upsidedown.
Reason is... the surface area of you, you will just go
under water... the surface are of the ski will be stoped by how much
it grabs the water... that is 7'X3' of area grabing water... It will not
push you under water that far.....

Ex... Next time your in the water... Take your fist and punch the water.
"pluphushhh" it goes right in... Do the same thing with and open flat
hand.... "WACK" little sting.... Basiclly in a biff, your the fist, and ski
is the flat hand...

Good explination ? or to much coffee ?
