l still don't believe you asked me to use my new freak as a guinea pig!!!

It's ok Don , new ideas are SCARY ! Some people are just more comfortable living on a flat earth ....

I really think this idea is solid. It really pulls down the front lip and applies more pressure to the whole seal . Brap straps put a lot of pressure on the rear seal area and hood hooks cant be adjusted to apply enough pressure to even out the force . I think this is the case on most AM hoods. IMO after market hoods with a stockhood liner design seal better due to the sharper /longer edge. Whatever the reason, this bracket seems to work better in our DRY back yard findings . This is by no means scientific, just simply sportfishMcology until we get one on the water.

I think a variation of this may work on the FX-1's as well . Fx guys chime in .

On the FX1 the hood is nearly against the pole bracket so you would have to build something into the bracket itself. The style of the aftermarket catch already available seems to work very well without over engineering it, there is no flat area between the hood and bracket.
This looks like a great solution for the Freak however. You should probably work on a simple, single thumb screw chin pad attachment now as well, that seems to give some people trouble.

Bump for power house performance ...

I will be making some more of these if any one is interested. Just have a few out for testing so far so good ... Everyone seems to really like them once they try it. I'll post a price next run should be a little cheaper than traditional hood hook options . Just depends on machine time and coatings . First batch was powder coated but would like to anodize the next ( black only really don't want to get into different colors such for such limited market ) .

Please pm me details on buying a handful of these. I saw Dons in NC and I think it will work on the Brawler hull as well.

Kevin, I have to say this hood latch is a must for a Superfreak and probably a lot of other AM hulls!! Combined with the Jetmaniac brap stap kit my circus was water tight. I rode it under water like a submarine a few times during testing and not once did it ingest a drop of water. It does a great job putting that extra squish on the front of the hood to make a water tight seal. If you postion the stud right it also does a great job limiting how far forward the hood sets on the ski. No more messing around with getting the 2 hood brackets lined up anymore, just drop the hood on till the stud is all the way up in the fork latch and done!...perfect hood alignment everytime;)

Great product Kevin!

When your done riding it also doubles as a squeegee to get all those nasty water spots off your hull...:mischievous:

Seriously guys, Good thinking. It looks like it does the job its suppose too.

Thanks for the write up Zack ! glad you liked I't !

Several others Freakers are using them . Glad to have one on boat going to WF . I'll be making another small run hopefully next week. This may work on other AM hulls , but I'm sure a slight angle adjustment will need to made to the surface that mounts to the hood .

For anyone interested PM me so I have an idea on how many kits to make .

Have all the material and scheduled machine time for next week . The next run will be anodized and use an aluminum knob vs phenolic. Sorry for the delay ..... these are not exactly a high priority / profit maker . It's been hard getting machine time lately .

I'm making a run of 10 . Seven are spoken for .

Thanks Don ..... Your a real sweet heart.

These work specificly on super freaks. They may work on other am hulls ,but you need about 3 inches from the edge of the hood to the pole bracket.
