A pwc pump is not all that efficient after about 8k rpm so making peak power at 8500 is usless. I will say that many of the snowmobile port configs kick butt, and I wish that pwc would have used more of there performance designs. Oh well.

yamaha already engineered a gear reduction system for watercraft. Is it not worth while?

It's a weight, cost, & maintenance added. If reduction was needed I'd rather have a timing belt, as used on air boats. Zero maintenance, unaffected by salt water, lighter weight, less cost.
