big bore ??

what i mean is .375 - .025 is .350"

.350" is 9.03 mm.

On your schematic it shows that the top of the sleeve has the ring around the top and is 8.8mm deep. If you install them to .375" and then mill only .025" off the top of the cylinder will not be flat. The sleeves will be recessed into the deck by 9.03-8.8= .23mm below deck.

You have to mill the bottom of the cylinder .140" or 3.56mm to get the below-deck transfer port height correct for flat top piston use. You also have to mill the top of the cylinder once the sleeves are installed to get the correct piston squish and for a true flat surface. You don't want to take off much metal from the sleeve tops because it will alter your below-deck exhaust port height. The top of the Northwest sleeve is .350" or 8.89mm and if you install them at 3.75" it leaves them .025" below the deck surface. If you mill the cylinder top between .025" ~ .035" you will be removing 0 ~ .010" from the sleeve tops. The cylinder top milling spec of .025" ~.035" is just an approximation, you will to assemble the engine and measure your piston to deck height clearance so that you will have a .045" ~ .050" piston squish with your domes.

Here's the Kawasaki flat top piston trim template taken from a Riva flat top or R&D Dominator piston. If you print it out on a piece of 11" long paper the template diagram should be 10-1/2" for an 85mm piston. Line the seams up with the arrow on the piston top or the in the middle of the exhaust side skirt. You will need to trim the edges off both piston skirts front and rear. Also here's a picture of what the template should look like installed on an untrimmed Kawasaki flat top piston.

oh ok i got you now. I was going by that diagram of 8.8 mm if they are .350" then obviously .025" or more will mate them up. Thanks for all the info man. Your a life saver.

.350" is 9.03mm not 8.8 which is where i was getting messed up.
