that sounds sweet !! about the new kits !!! . because i was thinking if I'm going to do a bigger motor what good is a stock 550 pump going to do lol but thanks man some helpful tips are ready ! lol this will be going into my Note book on the build and yes i check out that site very cool some good deals on some stuff and i like how they did the conversion plate for the 550 bed pan for the bigger 650 and up motors Very well designed adapter they did ..Google conversion ski and you will find a bunch of builds including mine. I should mention Rhaas products conversion ski kits and soon to be released 750 pump adapter kits so you can run a 140mm 750 kawi pump in the 550 without having to do any glasswork.
Maybe if you have a chunk of cash to drop and want big performance, but I think the conversion skis are a hoot. I have had as much fun on my 650sx over the last year as I have on any of my skis, just with my tray mods / holds, pipe & carb upgrade. I would love to drop a ported 701 in it. .. . .as a matter of fact I just might!Save your time and money and buy a Superjet. Fx-1 or a/m ski.

How much work would it take to stuff a kawasaki 900 into a 550? My 550 motor is a little long in the tooth and I was given a complete but disassembled 900 tripple, exhaust and all.

It really depends on what you want to do.
I have several 440's and a 750 conversion that had a 550 pump now waiting on the new pump kit for this summer, I also have an AM kawi/dasa based ski that has backflipped (not by me yet). I like riding them all and they are all fun for different reasons.
If a backflip or barrel rolls are in your future then aftermarket all the way.
If you like wrenching and gathering parts for a build and like the twitchy ride of a 550, then the conversion is for you. They are very fast and kinda sketchy at 50... but a blast to ride. The hulls are so narrow and and weigh little so the power to weight ratio is great. There are alot of good builds posted you can use as a guide so you are not really in uncharted waters so to speak.
If you don't want to build a ski then the FX-1 or superjet are good options.

That sounds perfect, thanks for the tip650's are easy to find and been done a million times. A good running 650 is about all a js pump will be happy about. I have a 650 with a Westcoast pipe and a 44sbn, pretty amazing compared to a 440 or reed 550 (only other js's I've been on). It still doesn't come out of the water as hard as my buddies stock 650 square nose.
