In my mind it seems if it were mounted in the dash I'd knee it or kick it, but I guess i'm not doing that with my primer or fuel selector so the bilge switch should be ok...

I shorten the bat on the toggles so they barely stick out. You can still kick them but being so stout, they don't seem to be bothered by it much.
If you want to mount the switch up in the handpole then you will need more wire to reach. If you want an extended lead included with your switch please add another $10 for materials.
