Super Jet Bilge outlet reinforcement?

I am going to drill my first hole in my SJ, to install my bilge pump outlet on top of my gunwale between the tray and hood area.

I read on here that you should reinforce the hull if you drill there to reduce stress cracks. Is that true? Can anyone confirm? I am just riding flat-water, but I don't want a weak point.

I have had mine drilled on both sides of the ski in that spot for 4 years now. Been doing huge stuff and landing flat in the surf for a while with no issues. I only reinforced the sides of mine, and didn't even do the hood lip.

I would think you will be fine. Drill away.

I used a 1 inch hole saw by the way.

I know you guys are gonna laugh but I used a wood boring drill bit on my SN.
Believe it or not, it made the cleanest hole ever, it made a perfect circular cut while "peeling" the fiberglass away.
The upper deck is pretty thin on a SN, not sure about a RN.

Ya, thats what I am looking to do.

Another question, whats the best way to get the bilge and bilge bracket in the ski while the motor is in? Do I have to pull the exhaust?

no you should be able to get to the midshaft bolts

just pull the coupler cover and then remove the two mid shaft bolts, add bracket... put bolts back!
