bilge pump surge???

does anybody else's bilge pump surge like when u have water in it and the water gets low were it sucks alittle air and will like surge alittle and when the hull fills up with more water it will just keep surging instead of sucking more water??

i have duals in my boat(under mid shaft and between flywheel cover and gas tank) and it seems both of them do it. i have to turn them off for a sec and turn them back on. gets kinda annoying

they must be rule 500's..... thats what they do.

they get airlocked. ive considered poking a hole in the tube(s) to relieve the airlock, but its not really that big a problem with 2 pumps and a scupper.

my tsunamis act the same way. it blows. i run 2 and a scupper and some times you have to toggle the switch to get them pumping again.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
I use Rule 500 manuals... the one I used to have did this... tried all kinds of stuff to get it to quit.... put another one in and it seems to be working fine... my guess: a leak on the bilge pump body somewhere?????

Try replacing the pump... they are only like $20 or so.... it is annoying... although since I have had some time using my scupper now- I realize I really NEVER use my bilge pump anymore... I really like the scupper- I run the xft 3" monster scupper.

Just get one of these and be done with it... 1100GPH & you don't even need a switch! Always on when you need it, Always off when you don't. It has a little pingpong ball that acts as the switch. Rule 500's suck arse. Switches suck arse.

^^^That is my next pump.

My RULE 1100 non-auto air locks too. I have to cycle power often.

Single Rule 360 for me and a stock siphon.

If you hood is on properly and crunched into the hood seal, a normal bilge pump will do just fine.
