Thats the key trying to get tool time down. We have a slow mill and the dead time were its cutting air is the thing I have to try and avoid. I really want a plotter so i can digitize things. it would it make it so much easier when your trying to make a high performance version of an existing part. I have to hand plot every thing and that takes ages. do you guys have a 4d mill or a 5d ( robitic arm )

I designed those cases and the superjet cases by hand.

No digitizer, no CMM, no 5th axis.

Used a test indicator and indicated each hole, created a 2d file and then added the 3d by hand

I have done that as well before, It adds so much time to what you are doing. You need to get dan to buy one. Alas the college I work at will not buy a digitizer , but the university has a lazer scanner I would love to have a play with.
I have scaned a gasket in before and re-scaled it to get a known distance and then used that with a bit of tweaking. Its a pain but it worked.

Digitizing would be nice, but anyone can do it that way.
