I have dual 44 blackjacks on my setup and blackjack tapered flame arrestors with prefilters. I have been having issues with a little water injestion and this past weekend on one of them, the top part of the cone came seperated from the wire mesh and a 1" radial section of the wire mesh ripped off and fell into my carb. I am sick of dealing with the aftermarket arrestors.

Is there a way to remove the top adaptor of the carbs or is there an adaptor out there for these carbs to run either the oem dual arrestors or the single oem arrestors?

Wow, thats interesting. I have dual BlackJack 44's and run 3" K&N cones with no prefilters and ingest water all the time and they dont miss a beat. It just keeps on rippin'. I do have TL and maybe that extra white hot massive spark keeps it going better. My ski eats water like its going out of style!

If you want to use the OEM arrestors(singles or duals), you'll have to fabricate.

You can run single OEM style ones using 1 of either 2 adapter made out there.

Thrust innovations adapter:

Wamiltons Adapter:

I have personally tried the Thrust version, and over all am not satisfied. It uses a black rubber hose as a coupling, and the inside wears out eventually and deposits a black rubbery down the carb. I am going to try the Wamiltons version here soon.

Or you can make your own version of the Thrust Innovations like bluegtate did. Here is a post with a picture I created.

Sorry to say, but none of those will work on Blackjack carbs as there is no bolt holes on top of the carb.
The top of the carb is cut off and the bell horn is pressed in as one piece and the flame arrestor "adapter" is built into the bell horn.

Well they wont work on mine anyways.. I can show you a picture. Yours has bolt holes to bolt a adapter on there?

No, you only use the screen and top plastic half of the stock FA, which bolts to the bottom unit that either Thrust or Wamiltons sells. Then you use hose clamps to hold the wamiltons brand to the pressed "horn" on the carb or a rubber coupling hose to hold the Thrust version to the "horn".

I don't know about the rubber hose idea, but would be a cheap fix for the rest of the season if I made one myself.

Thanks for the info, will probably look into the wamiltons.

Now anyone have any single oem flame arrestors to sell, I have dual I could trade off or one am blackjack arrestor!

I think there are a set of thrust adapters for sale on here, they work. That's what I am using on mine
