I've had skis with and w/o enhancers, I know I won't spend the money on one again, that's just my opinion though, some guys swear by them.

Yeah, I've heard mixed reviews..that's kinda why I have been waiting for a cheap used one to pop up. I figure ill do the carb and if a good deal on one comes I'll snatch it up..

I would do the carb first and I would never buy a used enhancer. I don't think they are worth it but if I was to buy one anything electric needs to be bought new.

Run whatever Art tells you to run and you will be VERY happy! They key is doing what Art tells you to do.

This seems to be a common ground amongst everyone..it just seemed strange to me replacing a 44 with a 44 unless there was some large advantage to the blackjack..I know he mentioned more fuel or air ports in the carbs and a few other things..

What exactly is done to the carbs? What makes them a blackjack?

BlackJacks are annular discharge carbs. IMO they are VERY easy to dial in and once dialed in-they stay dialed in.

Well art didn't build my setup..technically I guess I built it..just bought the kit from JM.
I would highly recommend you PM jetmaniac and talk to him about this, since it's Blue that did the porting and he'd be able to give you a better idea of what to do. When it comes to engine mods, always contact the one who did your porting, building, etc.

Yeah, I've modded my hood to help keep water out, but wasn't sure if there were other options for using the stock. I've seen the 701 ind ones, but figured it would be worth a shot seeing if I could make the oems work..would a single 44 or 46 be better?
A 46 will feel more responsive than a standard 44. This mod is most beneficial after port work and a low pitched impeller, otherwise a waste of time/money. Since you are value conscience, get a good pipe, port work, and the best pump/prop you can afford. Carb mods are very expensive for what you get.

He's already picked up a ported top end from Jetmaniac.
