Blaster 1 Found in the Jungle

Thanks, it was definitely parted out, but not stolen. The guy there told me the PO dumped it there after pulling the motor out to put in another ski over 10 years ago. Some guys think the B1 is garbage because its so small and they can't stay on it.

Unless you have a title with it, you should still get it checked out.

I know a guy who picked up an old 550 out of a retired guy's yard. The guy even advertised it on Craigslist as free, come take it. My buddy had it for nearly 6 years on a private lake, went to register it, and found out it was stolen nearly 12 years before.

Just saying, if you don't have a title, assume it's stolen, no matter what story the previous owner tells you about it.

Thanks, but its straight. I went asking around and found the guy who originally brought it in from Japan. He sold this boat to the PO for parts not 10 but 15 years ago. Also, he didn't know it was going to be dumped in the jungle! He said its all MINE now, so its legit. :) Still an awesome find for me!

Never did I ever think I would find something like this when I wasn't even on the lookout for one. I wish I found it a lot sooner before I did all the work on my current one, which was in MUCH worse shape.

Sorry to get off topic here, but how did you come about living in Guam? Where you born there? What's it like?, it looks like a potential Tropical wonderland to me. I did notice a lot of development for such a remote island, is that all Military? But most important, How's the surf riding in Guam? Are there lots of surfers who make all the good spots off limits? A quick Google Earth check and I found this spot; 13.556634,144.810581 Looks like it could be on with a solid swell.

I was born and raised on Guam. It is a tropical Island and it is very beautiful. The main industry here is tourism with about 80% coming from Japan, but there is a very large military presence that contributes to the economy as well. We are the most well developed island in our region which is a good and bad thing the way I see it. The surf riding here is great, and local laws are really laid back when it comes to riding spots. There are areas that we go to from the ocean that surfers cant get to without a boat. The problem with riding in these remote areas is safety. About 90% of all the breaks here are reef, sooooooooo if something were to happen you would be really far from rescue. Also, riding a standup for long distances can really suck with large swells. Ohh yeah, the island is so small the whole dang thing is 13, 144, so try a screenshot and ill let you know how that place you saw is.

Awesome dude you're stoked! And congrats on the Hull score- that's a double bonus for finding it in such an unlikely area.

When I was younger I was into surfing heavily and I've traveled to some pretty cool places in pursuit of that sport. I still surf to this day but I hate the crazed So Cal surf scene. Even the poor to mediocre spots are packed with crowds of younger guys that at my age I can't compete with ( I don't care for Long Boards) so at least while I am home here in San Diego I am more into my skis. To me, skis are just motorized surfboards which are less work with a much bigger payoff.

I've never quite got the warm water tropical bug out of my system so my goal is to eventually retire at some tropical island somewhere with decent surf. In my travels, some of the places I've been to were quite remote and lacked even the most basic amenities. It looks like Guam doesn't have that problem so it could be on the list. Any ways the search continues, I'm always keeping my eyes open for the right spot.

As for the spot I was asking about, here's 2 screen shots, the first is an overview so you can see where its located on the Island and the other is a close up so you can see how the waves run down the reef. If this place is good, I would be surprised if this place isn't already claimed by the surf crowd

That's cool your looking for a place to move to. I used to live in SD also, I has a great time out there.

That spot is definitely remote (and treacherous), I'm not sure about the quality of the break, but next time I'm out ill be sure to take a look!

The best thing about living in Guam is we are in Micronesia, and also our very close proximity to Asia. There are hundreds of islands around here, some of which have storied surf spots with no-one around (ever heard of Kosrai?) Guam is the perfect staging area for this region, because we are US. Crap, I just got back from a trip to Shanghai a few weeks ago and it was only a 5 hour flight. That's like going from Cali to New York, but I'm in another country. Check these out the place looks like Europe! The cost to travel around here is pretty cheap so it'a a cool place to rest your head.

I lived on Guam and graduated from UOG back in 1997. My avatar pic is actually Saipan in 2002. The surf spots on Guam I can say are down right sketchy for the most part. Take a Hawaii Pipe Line type break and then make it really shallow. I remember lots of paddling with my arms out to the side because there was not enough water underneath me.

Where do you ride at?

I like to ride out of Malleso, because it is deeper and I can go around the island from either side. Also, the break there is pretty awesome. Also there is Ceti and Cella Bay that have no-one around. Lol I just imagined myself paddling with my arms out to the sides looking at the f^&$^% coral beneath me diving under a wave and hitting the reef with my fingers around the board!

Is it really getting cooler there!? Sounds and looks amazing man!
Weather is good right now. Really windy and cool, it should be smoking already. A tropical storm wizzed by a month ago, and typhoon season is 5 months away. We have not had a Super Typhoon in over 12 years when they hit us almost every year in the 90's.

Here's an old old pic of Merizo (Malleso) Red Bouy on a mid size day. I would think the left at Yigo Bay would be fun to ride as well if you could find a way to put in the water...maybe at the cemetary on the south side at high tide? Isn't there a small boat ramp somewhere near Yigo Bay?
FYI-If anyone thinks it's a surfers paradise think again...most of the coastline is a death trap waiting to happen. It's super sketchy most places.

Thats why I choose to stay under power these days. Even for wave jumping, if you wreck its pretty unforgiving. But like I said there is world class surf in the area if you are willing to explore.

Are you refering to Ylig Bay? Yes there is a place to launch on the Pago river and it is fun out there. I prefer Talofofo Bay on that side of the island because there is no reef!
