300/440/550 Blaster 1 or X2

Blaster.....701 reliability and great potential, better pump, hooks up, and rails

x2...... 650 not as reliable, pumps not great, smaller more standup style

Both are fun as hell in the surf. X2 is probably more funfor flatwater. I would probably choose the B1 mostly for its reliability, and because I live close to the surf.

I have an X-2 and love it in the surf. Power can be fixed by putting in a 750 or 800. Pump can be fixed by having it blueprinted and a cut back prop. The blaster handles great and hook up right out of the box plus the parts are interchangable with the SJ. You can sit on a blaster when not moving but cant on the X-2. My 2 cents. Im sure Legdrag will chime in on this.

Depends on how comitted you are. Blasters are pretty easy to go ride close to stock and perform well. If you don't like to get creative mechanically go with the Blaster. If you like trading motors around and pretending you are on Orange county choppers then an X2 is fun. After you get a big block in it and a good prop without a worn out pump you have a few more options for tricks. A good X2 will do any trick a Superjet will do as well as any trick a Blaster will do other than seat grabs. It is easier to stab than the blaster and has the potential to do flatwater rolls if you have power and trim. You should be able to get an X2 for a few hundred dollars then spend your money on a motor and prop. A blaster will be $1500 to $2000 on average. Personally I don't have a lot of fun on the Blaster. If I had to ride something other than the X2 I would ride a Superjet.

I have only ridden a B1 a couple of times and that was a while ago but I remember being able to just hop on and ride it. The X2 does require a little more committment. I have an X2 now and I love it, even with the 650 in it with a few mods you'll get some decent pull out of it and a 750 bolts right in.

smite you all.

I do agree that, you can just hop on a blaster for the most part and ride it. X2's are kind of a bitch. But anyone who says blasters aren't fun, hasn't ridden it right. In the surf, you can do almost anything on a blaster that you can on a standup.

I don't think you could pay me to try rolling a blaster. Seeing you do that blows my mind. I guess if I got use to it it would be different but it just feels really big when I hop on the blaster. After I watch the Visser Freeride video Blasters do look really fun. That is my favorite jet ski ski video ever.

Jerry, did you ever think of putting an XFT trim system on a Blaster to do tricks?

im gonna put a cats trim system on mine i think its time to start a ultimate freeride blaster thread since i gotta do a new one up my hull is trashed this way i get some differnt ideas

hmm thats a tough one. I have both but I usually ride the blaster....I like to race around a course with it but its also nice for exploring rivers etc. you can get blasters for cheap this time of year but in the summer they have good value and will hold for a good amount of time.

I have owned both but to tell you the truth i like them both. They have different riding styles but in the end I prefer my B1. I just had to wrench on my X2 too much and just lost intrest. Then I made the mistake of buying a SJ and now the B1 never gets ridden.

I have both and like both. I think the x2 is a lot more nibble to throw around just due to size. Get an x2 with a 750 implant or a blaster with a pipe either way you can't go wrong

Blaster over X-2 any day. Yamaha built the blaster to beat the x-2 in the then "x-2" class.....then came HXs to kick the blaster's @$$

A better thread is blaster vs superjet...just when I think I'm 100% superjet I jump on my dust covered blaster and know I will always have a B1 in my stable:highhorse:

The only reason the blaster walked on the x2 in the early years was because of the 650 slug of an engine. A well tuned modified 750 motor makes up the difference.

okay I'll agree. x2 had a 650..B1 had a 701..then HXs had a 782 (?) so HP is a key part.

Now let's compare that modified 750 cc x-2 to Jerry's B1 with a 760cc.

The blaster hull is superior. x-2 are old 650sx hulls....the blaster is a wider/bigger superjet. better stability and faster turns with a B1. not to metion yamaha vs kawasucki :lmao:

I think the main reason I am so into X2's is that they are like riding a super light powder sled which is pretty much the coolest thing I have ridden. However since I don't get enough snow around here to have that feeling all the time I can hop on my custom X2 any day I want. If I lived in Tahoe I would be able to get my fix in the mountains but i live in NH so I ride an X2. Ridng the Superjet is kind of like snowboarding but I can rail top turns more like I want to on the X2. And once in a while i like to pretend i am racing motocross again so the X2 is good for that too without the hardpack to crash into.
