thats what i'm thinking. pete's got a lot of love into that x2.

Love = $$ and Time

No more than some with their blasters.

Buahah.....pete's X2 has SOOO much more work put into it than a typical freeride blaster. I'm not saying some people don't put lots of time and money into their blasters......but there really is no comparison. Pete has so many self engineered fabrications and modifications on that X2. Most freeride blasters are made up of a few, readily available, bolt-on parts.

A surf blaster really only needs a few things. Some reinforcement inside and on hood (if you plan to roll it), reinforced transom, a pipe and maybe a head, and a set of bars.

True, True. I have no room to talk I am putting my SX-R driveline in my X-2 right now. I could have just bought a blaster but enginnering is what makes it fun.

yamaski is right LOVE=$$$$

yes, like jerry said too..
i don't know how to factor in having to listen to a bunch of people on the internet rag on your crap after youve busted yer ass on it into the equation.

How about factoring in the wife and/or girlfriend ragging on your ass for spending too much time with jetskis.

comparing X-2s to blasters is a lot like comparing mustangs to cameros alot of people have had one or the other and will defend there decision of owning one over the other till the end of time . I have never ridden a blaster but I like the smaller size of the X-2 . It's unstable nature IS what makes it fun to ride in the surf.:splatt:

I own a X2. My good buddy owns a Blaster. There's no ski out there I enjoy more than my X2. My buddy swears there's nothing better than the Blaster 1.

It goes like this. They are both fun to ride and they both come down to preferance.

The Blaster comes ready to ride for about $1500. The X2 comes needing many many upgrades for about $300 and can be on par with a blaster after total cost nears $1500 with modifications.

The only real noteworthy thing between the two is how much work they take. The Blaster 1 is upgraded easily with bolt on parts. The X2 takes a engineer with a degree in quantum physics to get anything upgraded. If you want to do as little work as possible, the blaster wins hands down, but if you enjoy bulding, modify, and customizing and having a ski so individual it's nothing like the next one built OEM the same way, then there's nothing wrong with the X2.

I'll swear by the X2 as the most enjoyable thing out there to ride, it just takes a lot of work and time to make them to something worth riding. I envy my blaster-ridin-buddy for always having something to ride w/o putting any effort to make it rideable, but I'd still take my X2 over his blaster anyday. And he wouldn't trade his blaster for my X2 even if it was ready to ride stock or had Yamaha parts.

Blaster.....701 reliability and great potential, better pump, hooks up, and rails

x2...... 650 not as reliable, pumps not great, smaller more standup style

Both are fun as hell in the surf. X2 is probably more funfor flatwater. I would probably choose the B1 mostly for its reliability, and because I live close to the surf.

Have you ridden the one you just bought much lately? I was just curious if you changed your opinion any.

X2's are cool and so are Blasters. It is hard to say which is better for me.
