Blaster Blaster 1 - what's the best plate for aggressive flat water carving?

From what I was told that was sourced out to pat. Pat does the work I could be wrong but I think that's what paid said.

Negative. Pat punched the cylinder out for me when my crank went out a couple years ago. He has done machine work for me in the past through Trey, and now he does most of his work but this engine is probably 10+ years old.

Nice wamilton blaster... I spoke to the guy who owned it before you a few years ago... and he was tempted to sell it at that time...
I ended up purchasing the other wamilton b1 that was in the UK... and still love it... Give them a good engine setup and you'll be flying bouys to bouys...
I have the wamilton plate on mine... and will try to take a pic for you this week if you are interested...

Pro tec or worx plate. Jet dynamics puts the nose of the ski in the air. If the ski you have is truly a Wamiltons MOD hull then the only plate you can run is the one you have. The normal aftermarket plates will not fit that hull. Get yourself a set of Blaster sponsons from the NYNJA guys and call it a day. It will carve hard with this setup.

Installed some 1/2" marine ply inside the transom bonded with 3M 5200, then drilled through with a 61mm centreless cutter to provide an internal flange. The stainless exhaust was the installed with additional 5200 adhesive sealant and installed the internal hoses. Alll rigid and aligns perfectly.

Nice hull, but it isn't a Wammer. It is a Rick Pott hull. (the original mod hull made for team yamaha back in the day) The Wammers weren't carbon, they were S glass with a carbon/kevlar inner liner. Mac crashed one in a Florida Tour race and it sank. Wammer got it from the bottom of the lake and molded it and started selling his. We still have one of the Wammer mods and Glen Jung has the other one down in Florida. Plus, Wammers didn't have the thin stringers.

Joe is right, tho. You are stuck with the Pott plate or the Wammer plate. I think Wammer still sells them. But, either way, if you really want the ski to carve a turn, you need to add the JAM sponsons. They completely change the way the ski turns, for the better.

Scottie,

I've had brand new beach house sponsons in the parts bin since the mid 90's. Have you ran these? I assume they would accomplish the same thing as the JAM sponsons, but who knows. I was always happy with my setup, so I never bothered installing them. I have another hull that has them installed already, so we'll see how they run with a 1200 conversion.

Ditto on what SM said. The ride plates are way different on the Mod hulls. I have a Glass Mod hull that has a 1100 going in it. Happy to post pics of the plates. Hey Scottie..... Do u know who made my hull? It's Mad Dogs old boat, I bought it from Norms buddy John up in Northern CA.

From what I was told, your hull was a splashd version of a Pott hull, but I don't know who did the splashing.

The beach house sponsons are a lot different than the JAM ones. The beach house ones are more like runabout sponsons, the problem with them is the blaster leans way over in a turn, where a runabout turns flat, keeping the sponson in the right position. The JAM sponsons tuck up under the rail and cause the hull to hook off the rear of the ski. I tried a set of to beach houses years ago before we designed the JAM design and I can tell you for certain, they handle totally different. There are probably very few people in the world with more time on blasters than me and I can't even ride one now without sponsons.

But, JMO.

Thanks for the pic, how do you like those drains? Looked at those the other day, are they water tight or do they leak while the ski is sat?

Scottie, your right about the Runabout Riva/Beachhouse style (as fitted now) - it carves hard but doesn't lean much at speed (reckon the sponson mount is stopping it cranking right over?) - going to try the style you suggest and see how I get on..

Keep you posted..
