blaster 1200 gas tank

hey guys just picked up a 93 blaster, pretty much stock except it has a 92t motor. it definetly needs some work. i'm going to be swappign my race gp1200 65u motor and pump into this blaster. i have a question, most people say that when installing the 1200 motor it sits further to the front i was wondering if i could cut out the firewall and install 1 or 2 custom gas tanks in the rear/mid section of the ski to counter the weight. btw this will be a freestyle ski.

Keep the 62t engine Way better for freestyle if you wanted to use it for race Then put the tripple in but if you only using it for freeride og freestyle keep the 2 cylinder in it.

wont the 170-180 hp in the 1200 compensate for the weight. the gp1200 i'm pulling it out of is arm wrenching and i use it for jumping as it is. i just got this blaster for 300$ thought it would be a good project. i'm not overly concerned about weight as i am pushing 250. what kind of power am i going to need to haul my ass around. also this is not for surf, just large wakes.

No everbody whos building a freeride blaster keep the two cylinder ind it. But give it a go, if you want to the blaster is getting more valuble if you put the tripple in it and do it right there are Many who have done but Nobody do it for freeride only race

You can not use the powervalve motor. The non powervalve motor is 135hp. What year gp1200 are you using only the 97-99 and the xl 98 have the riht motor. The gpr is the wrong boat for a swap.6

its a 98 gp1200 with the 65u, not a gpr. And it is a modded ski, ported, 185 comp head, maxflows, reeds, spacers, etc etc. runs on 110 octane.

I've got both a 1200 Blaster and a twin carb 96 WB1 and the extra power of the 1200 does make it feel fairly light and the extra power is nice assuming you're running around on flat water lakes and chasing boat wakes. When you get into Great Lake or ocean surf, the ski is too heavy and the weight difference really shows up. The lighter 701 is way more fun in the surf.

My ridding buddy built an 1100 blaster a couple years ago. It was great for ripping across the lake but he found it too heavy and not a lot of fun in the waves. Seeing we do mostly wave riding (with our blasters), he sold it and now he's back to a twin motor.

For what it's worth, if your looking for more power, I would put in a larger cc twin motor.

Send the 701 that is in it to @holeshot and have it ported and stroked to a 809cc. Nice set of twin carbs, 200psi compression, a good pipe, large hub impeller like a skat or hooker and she will make for a great freestyle boat.

For you guys with experience on a 1200 blaster, how much work is it going to take to get a 701 to be comparable to a 1200 blaster? How would something like a JM 780 stack up?

I have a 1100 wave blaster that I ride in the surf and free ride with it. It costs less to convert a blaster 1100 than to build a good 701 freestyle motor. I also have a 701 blaster also. Riding a 1100 Blaster is like riding a CR500 vs a Cr250. Put a Triple In IT!.
