Blaster hull question

So here in the Midwest we rely on boat, barges for wakes, for jumping. I'm getting ready to reinforce my blaster, and lay new paint, but I looking to maybe "Rocker Nose" and -3.5. The doing part of project isn't the problem, the part that scares me is not wanting to ride it any distance without hating what I have created, once it is done. Any fat water or surf riders comments would be great. Thanks

You are contemplating surf type mods. Modding the nose is great if you are always stabbing through waves. Otherwise its just for looks on a blaster. I would not shorten it if you spend a lot of time at high speeds.

The nose makes a huge difference, and as your hunting for wakes, you launch better off them. To keep the best of both worlds, the only the 701 rocker keeps the v shape, but adds the lift of the the rocker..

Rockering the front will give you better pop off the waves, but if you start going too short on the rear it will likely porpoise at high speeds. I think that the rocker and rear cut can somewhat "talk" to each other so that you have a hull that can run higher speeds with both ends modded without porpoising.

Do you have any rockered ski's nearby that you could test first?

I am a fan of going for a rocker on the front and cutting the rear, it handles so much better in all conditions, keep the length at the rear pump mounting bolts and dont run the rocker too steep where the plainning area of the hull transitions to the rocker and you will have a good all around ski!

Zimmy unfortunately I don't know anyone with a Blaster much less a modded one around here.

I agree that there has to be a certain balance, I'm just not sure what that is yet. How much is to much off the back. My original plan was to keep the bond rail but add a permanent wedge.

I have a Raider trim system so I would think that with some playing around I could get the porpoising to a minimum. I what it for mainly jumping I have other bikes for sticking to the water.

Yes, splash guard is helpful, you could also do the rocker on the underside of the bond line or just buy a Viper hull, rocker and shortened to perfection! With a splash guard ;-)

Yup, the VIPER, its already out and about. I ran mine for 2 years at lakes and surf, its -3, so you can add a longer ride plate if you are a lake cruiser, or cut it short for surf riding. Its a great all around ski, plus for boat wake jumping the rocker gives a great pop off small waves!
