Blaster Kawi 1100 Tuning help

Hey guys,

I built a 1100 Blaster, and I have 2 problems I can't seem to figure out.

1. When I take hard turns the ski will bog down, and it takes about 10 seconds to get back up to rpm. I was advised to flip the carb rack, and that just moved the problem to the other side. I also rejet From 120 to 130 H, and there was no change.

2. The ski runs great and pulls around 7300 rpm from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, but when I go past 3/4 I lose RPM? I am going to rejet to 135 or 137.5 to check if it's still lean, but I am already at 250 total jetting with stock porting.

On a side note, I found out I was starving for air when I saw the hood get sucked down reving the boat on the trailer, so I drilled 2x 2 1/8 holes in the seat base and fire wall to allow more flow (No change).

Any help will be much appreciated. Ski specs listed below.

Stock Bore and Stroke
Dried out stock pipe
Rad Dudes rear exhaust w120 jet in the stinger
ADA head with pump gas domes
Mikuni 46 carbs with Trip speed plates on Stock port matched mani, and 3 pulse lines
R&D Timing advance plate
Heat Sensor Timing advance Jumper
Blowsion Triple fuel pickup, and new check valve.

1100 B1
Mikuni 46's
Carb Jetting 120p, 130m
2.3 N/S, 95gram. Pop off @ 20, 21, 21
1- H=1 3/4, L=3/4
2- H=1 3/4, L=3/4
3- H=1 3/4, L=3/4

15/19 Prop
Solas 144 12 Vein Mag

RPM's read around 7300 when running well.

Just came across this. I basically have the same exact mods done to my blaster with kawi 1100 except I am running Mikuni 44's. Scottie Mac helped me with jetting specs a little over a year ago and it was right on.

I am at sea level and using same needle/seat/spring with same popoff
Pilot 120 - 1 turn out
Main 105 - 1 turn out
Scottie did tell me if you have any elevation, bump up to a 110 main.

I started with a 110 main and plugs were black black at 1 turn out. How do you have your fuel pickups ran? Anyway, hope these jetting specs will help. My blaster runs amazing with the specs Scottie gave me.

Thanks, Scottie has been helping me along the way as well. My jetting is good, and the ski runs great when it does. It's the bogging on left turns that I can't fully understand.

By fuel pumps are on the starboard side now, and all it did was move the problem to the other side.

I installed jets in the return line, and it got much better, but the bog still exists. I went from a 95 all the way down to 65.

I've checked my carbs over and over again and found nothing out of the ordinary. No drilled returns, all new mikuni rebuilds with new N/S. Replaced fuel pickup with blowsion. All new fuel lines ect

Have you tried a higher pop off? Say 25...could be loading up with too much fuel on the turn and taking a while to clear up
I only went lower pop off. From 20/21 per SM to 16/18

What 44's are you running, from a 1200 with the links?

Only way to raise pop to 25 would be to drop needle size to 2.0. Not sure if that's a good idea though.mikuni_pop_off_pressure_chart.jpg
