Blaster Mods

As some of you may know, my mom purchased a Blaster at Daytona. I was wondering if there are any mods that are considered "essential"? I was thinking new plate, intake, maybe impeller and steering?

Remember, this is my mom's ski, so it doesn't need to be modded too much, not yet at least, but I'm definitely going to be riding it as well. Also, I don't plan on doing much to it soon, this is more like for the future.

Thanks. Don't some SuperJet parts fit the Blaster? What would you reccomend? It'll mostly be on Lanier, but I hope to get it out in the surf, even if my mom stays on the flat water.

Sorry, I'm like a newb all over again!

Fuse. What ski did she buy at Daytona?. The stock purple one?
I was there when she was talking to Zippy (aka:Andre,Rotexgranade) and was looking.

a ride plate and intake grate are nice. a bilge is needed if you are going to be in the surf. a stock flame arrestor is pretty essential to if in the surf.

congrats.

No, different ski. As far as I know it's stock, maybe has a flush kit? I wasn't really very involved in the purchase, I was out riding. I'm horrible with names. It's a red ski. I'll call her and ask what the guys name was.

EDIT: It was Matt D's ski.

I wasn't mine !!!
Anything you would do to a SJ will work for the B1.
*Bilge pump is nice or just pull the plugs while you ride - a Stricky tried and trued method, even with a gaping hole in the transom !
You should be able to find the old Riva red pipes out there for dirt cheap, nothing wrong with those pipes if you set them up right.
*Impeller - yes
*Grate- yes
*Rideplate - ehh..... I've ridden for months with a big chunk missing and haven't really noticed it but that's in the surf
*Bore the nozzle to 85mm
*Stock airbox- YES , remove all the screens except the coarse one and drop the pop off. OR do the uncle tom tupperware if you don't mind getting laughed at when you pop the hood.
* Reinforce the transom now before you are forced to.

Zippy ??? who the hell is that ??? :27:

I lent my ski to Jetskier79, he broke my steering cable. He asked the dude who was selling yours if he could use the cable on that ski and send him a replacement. The seller said yes and jerry made the swap. If there is a problem getting a cable from jerry or from the old owner let me know.

That ski is about as stock as it gets, the only mod was the removal of the oil pump and oil tank. Nice lookin ski!

My jaw dropped when I opened the hood of the ski. Looks BRAND NEW! I felt bad stealing the steering cable, but only for a second. ;).

I would say that a ride plate and intake grate are pretty essential for most riders. I only run the stocker becuase I like to slide it around in the surf. On flat water it drives me NUTS.

If you plan on riding surf at all, I DEFINITELY recommend reinforcing the transom. My ski has not been done yet because I don't ride too often, but it is getting thrashed.

On the topic of taking the drain plugs out, I've decided that a terrible method. I did it for a while. Works wonders at keeping the hull dry while moving. The SECOND you stop, you end up with a ton of water in the bilge.

Just like a shark..... keep moving or die !! LOL
We just jump in the water and screw them back in if the ski won't crank within 30 seconds - The game is usually over at that point and it's time to be a "dope on a rope"

Heh, we had a leak in the hull of our ski boat one time and we used that method. Worked great till my mom forgot to put the plug in. Good thing it was tied off in shallow water. I've got some Attwoods that I got on sale, I assume there is room for a 500gph pump without anything rediculous?

Sorry, I really know nothing about Blasters.

I'm thinking of changing my Pro-Tec plate for a shorter one on my SJ, will the pro-tec plate fit the blaster? Also, what grate is good for flatwater? Lastly, UMI steering? I wouldn't ride my SJ without it, is it pretty much the same case for a blaster?

the ride plates aren't interchangable. not sure on the grate, ask godocgo on pwctoday he'd know. you can get away with stock steering on a blaster. DO NOT buy the performance yamaha suspension steering on ebay (or anywhere else) it's junky and prone to break.

whats up fuse its matt the X owner of that mint blaster lol! if i was you i would throw a b-pipe, impeller, theres already an intake, and thats basically about it. you definitly dont need a blige unless your upside down alot. Oh and if you plan on surf riding alot I would reinforce back of ski. And I believe WaveDemon is the one that owes me that steering cable. Paul said he will ship it out to you!

Are impellers interchangeable SJ/Blaster? Im getting one with more bottom end for my SJ, and the one thats on there would be good for the blaster.
