Blaster Blaster Motor Upgrad - 66e, yami 1100, yami 1200

Im looking to swap a motor with more power into my B1.

I am hoping to be able to backflip it with a double up wake and a trim system (no hull mods). Its mostly a wake jumping boat, but im not opposed to WFO speed either.

I'm thinking either a 66e from a GP800 or a Yamaha 1100 or 1200 motor. Which would be the best motor and the easiest to drop in?

Im leaning more toward the 1100 or 1200 but im a little worried about the extra weight of a triple for wake jumping and backflip ability.

If the triple is the best way to go, is the 1100 or 1200 better?

Thanks for the input!

If you go the 66E route give me a shout. I have a decked out short block and all the other goodies you need to make her rip!

the tripple will definitely bring the power but it will also change weight distribution and probably wont flip very easily. you should consider the kawi 1100 tripple because its not as big and you can push the motor towards the rear more. it might be your best option and the conversion is pretty easy with all of the Rad Dudes conversion parts.

Frank (Blaster800) has one (66e) and never touches it! Because his LPW 61x motor hits way harder! I have ridden it and I am sure it could be back flipped in surf! Wavedemon was doing it years ago on 61x.

No doubt, a ported twin is much better freestyle platform. Tripples are just cheap way to get the same type of power.

i know you could probably pull a backy with a good stroker motor, however what you gain in hp you will loose in reliablity. you will be rebuilding that motor more often though.

the 1100 kaw is smaller package then the 1100/1200 yamaha. however, if it were me, id go with the 1200, and set it back. the bolt on h.p. on the 1200 would be ahead of the same on the 1100 kaw. not to mention the ease of installation.

that being said, its going to be pretty tough to do a backy in flat water on a b1, no matter which option you choose.

personally, id do a shortened hull, rocker nose, trim nozzle, d cut plate, setback 1200 yamaha, ported, head, modded exhaust, lightened flywheel, and a few other goodies. the yamaha 1200 will have more bottom end hit, and will over come the added weight without an issue.
hhmmmm. you got me thinking, maybe i'll do one! lol

If you want to backflip, weight is your enemy. Triples are awesome, but they are heavy. What makes them fun on the bouy course hurts them in terms of tricks.
