Mine just came the other day.

Going to spend some time in Santa's workshop swapping shafts and grinding a 144mm shoe to fit.

It's amazing how much larger the 144mm pump is when it sits next to the FX pump.

I'd like to know what the heck Yamaha was thinking with that 122mm pump

Me too, since they had to design, develop, validate and tool a new pump. Maybe the lower variable costs of the 122mm were enough to justify developing it over simply using the 144mm, and with a stock ski the 122mm was good enough?

Did the 122mm go into anything else other than the FX1?

I don't know, but I have this 93 650 waverunner (just for parts)that the stator section looks like about the same size. The goofy thing is that the wear ring is tapered like a Kawi 550. The inlet is small, then it gets bigger...??

BTW...Good luck with that pump! The ski is going to be a different animal now. HANG ON!

the waverunner (early ones) had a 133mm pump with a 72mm hub
it would have been like a small magnum if you could have got it in there
