Blowsion HD steering cable installation

So I recently bought the HD cable as I thought it would be the way to go. Turns out it's a royal pain in the **** to install because everything is bigger. I had to remachine the steering cable bracket on my new aura handpole to accept the bigger cable and now when I turn the bars all the way to the left it steering is maxed out wayyyyy before the stop but when I turn right it's all the way against the stop. Anyone have the same issue and have a fix? Also since the stainless parts of the sheath are so much bigger I'm having to built a long tube type adapter to connect to the steering nozzle because the stainless sheath hits the pump. God this has been a royal pain. Should of just bought the general replacement steering cable I guess...

It's just a weird design. It must be the way the tube for the steering cable is set up into my hurricane hull that puts it in a bad location in relation to the pump. I still have no clue what to do about this throw problem though. Why would my steering max out one direction way earlier than the other? The steering cable is adjusted and when my bars are centered the nozzle is centered too as it should be.

If I put it in backwards like a complete noob I'm going to be so mad. That's how the old one that I was replacing was put in. Long side at the back short end at the pole.

If your nozzle is centered when your bars are centered but you don't get full lock in one direction it means the steering cable is not centered in its travel. You should be able to unthread one side while threading the other in to center the cable travel with your steering.

I don't think you can even hook it up the wrong way, you can install it but I don't think that the end will reach the nozzle.

You're probably right. I didn't think about it that way. Just sucks I had to build this 1in adapter spacer to make it to where the cable can hook up to the steering nozzle and still clear the pump.

I agree with that, lesson learned, next time just buy an OEM style cable, and make sure your steering is setup properly so you don't bend/break it.
Most likely, the Blowsion cable is made by a company that builds cables for boats, they took what they had in stock for materials (cable, sheath, etc.) and just shortened it to Blowsions specs to fit the SJ application so it solves the strength issue but didn't have to be 100% re-engineered (this is my speculation).

So here's what I ended up coming up with to sort my problem out for anyone else having a similar issue with this cable. The cable comes with a 6mm-1.00 threaded Allen bolt as a steering post. I had to drill out the steering nozzle hole on my Thrust trim system to allow it to accept this larger bolt. Then I had the real problem which is that when you turn left the stainless sheath of this larger cable hit the pump in the place that gets modified for dual cooling on the stock pump. I had to build a 1 inch long stainless spacer with a 6mm through hole and run a 2 inch long stainless Allen bolt. It now clears the pump at full left throw. I'm about to cut the bolt to make it look more uniform and be a closer fit to the nut. I got the steering cable adjusted. I made the mistake of not centering the cable before adjusting the ends to meet up with the centered steering nozzle and centered turn plate.

But now I have come across another problem. Since the pivot is now lower than center on the steering nozzle due to my spacer, the trim starts to engage when turning left because of the cable pushing on the bottom of the nozzle instead of center. Anyone got any ideas?

Too late. All I did was drill the hole in the steering nozzle to accept the 6mm bolt that came with the Blowsion cable. No big deal. They make stainless time serts for a reason. When I go to a 148 mag pump the outlet on the right side for double cooling shouldn't interfere as much as my stock pump so I can put the HD cable back on at that time. I have another stock cable that I'm going to run in the meantime.

It's not like you went from a 1/4" diameter tube to 3/4"! How is it the cables fault for hitting the pump?
If you throw that cable in the trash, please throw it in my trash can...

You can try taking the pump apart and pulling the dowel pins and rotating the stator 180. I had to do this on my BOB gen2 to get the steering cable to clear on xmetal trim
