Poor dude sunk his wifes car. Thats my trailer disconnected when I saved the GMC. He was too long on the ramp, so I was heading to the second one. Thats when I looked again the GMC was now tugged off the ramp by the current and now full of water and he was coming back from chasing his ski down the Mississippi. I leeping into action w/ no regaurd to injury since Wave rave is next wk'end. I dropped the trailer, 4 low down his ramp and swam out and found a tow hook with my rope in seconds flat.. Then took a pic. The ramp owner later said now if you can only ride your ski that fast lol

Boat ramps are one the most entertaining places on earth! especially on holidays, when "joe-boater" goes out the one time that year.

On the 4th of July here in St. Augustine, lots of folks like to watch the fireworks from the water. This means the ramps are super crowded and everyone will be loading in darkness.
I like to sit with my cooler of beer and watch the mayhem!

lol you are right, boat ramps a very entertaining. I was waiting in line to launch my skis when the vehicle in front of me had 5 people who were launching a boat (one of which who had done it before...i think) anyways they spent a good 15 minutes trying to get the retchet straps off, that is when my buddy just walked up to give assistance by just yanking on it. the owner then put his screwdriver away. lol but wait there is more.

so as they are trying to get the boat off the trailer the women on the nose of the boat (you can already see whats about to happen), she realizes that the ratchet line to real the boat in is still attached. so her and all of her infinite wisdom unhooks it. well the boat starts to slip back and she for fear of falling grabs the trailer while she is still on the boat. she realizes this just a bit late, and as she lets go of the trailer to grab the boat she falls and face plants into the trailer then into the water. i dont thing i have ever laughed so hard while waiting to launch a jet ski.

Yeah I love watching them too. I just figure it's part of jetskiing to have a little extra time in waiting for someone at the ramp. Pretty funny at the end of the day watching all the drunks trying to back down the ramp. I've seen a sunken S-10 and a LOT of screaming husbands and pissed off wives.

The one thing that pisses me off is when joe blow takes out his boat for the first time of the season in the busiest boat ramp time of the week and then proceeds to work on it for 20 minutes on the ramp trying to get it started.

i know right, it is worse when joe blow pulls his boat out of the water stops in fron of the ramp and proceeds to strap down his boat, dry his boat, get all of the stuff out of the boat, and then go chase down tiny joe blow who is running around like a dumb a$$ kid with no dicipline. all this is going on while 15 other cars are waiting to lunch

yes and worse still is not being able to tell him what a jagoff he is cause he is drunk, mad as hell and built like a brick :):):):)house.

I find a little bit of happiness when watching him hog the ramp, not being able to get his pos started and then pullng back out to block the ramp but as he is pulling out he forgot to trim up the outdrive and its just grinding away in the pavement. He is just too drunk and stupid to notice.

Slightly off-topic but::
At a very busy ramp in Mayport, FL......
A woman purchased a boat the day b4 at Mayport Marine. She was putting it in for the first time. She putted around the St. Johns river, but could not get it up on plane.
She tied off at Mayport Marine (right next to the ramp) and asked them to look at it. A mechanic took it for a spin, and agreed...it would not plane out.
As he tied it off at the dock he asked her what the strap across the stern was.......
THE TRAILER WAS STILL UNDER THE BOAT!
She unhitched from the ball, parked her truck, and away we go!

P.S: I did not witness this. A mechanic at Mayport Marine told me the story.

Boat ramps are a pain in the ass.

It never fails. Idiots pull up to the ramp, start backing down, then stop.
Everybody gets out and starts getting bumpers out, unstrapping the back, putting drain plugs in, etc.
Me, in line: :soapbox:
There's a spot to pull off to the side BEFORE you get to the ramp to do all that bullsh!t.

Then, a couple hours later, those same folks get their boat on the trailer, pull it out of the water and stop just at the top of the ramp.
Everybody gets out and starts towel-drying the boat (WTF?), putting the bumpers away, pulling drainplugs, etc.

Me: :soapbox:  :soapbox:

While I was waiting to pull my ski out at a local launch I had to wait for a lady trying to launch her boat for what appeared to be the first time. She was taking forever trying to back up(which I can understand). When she was about to the edge of the water I suggested she remove the straps from the back. Then I looked closer and also suggested she installed the drain plug.
Seriously people, get a brain.
