bob footholds for sj

Was wondering if anyone has put the ski clinics bob footholds in a sj. Im thinking of doing it and just want to get some input as so how install went and they feel installed

They are more labor intensive than normal holds. Much more tray cutting and a few extra steps worth of foaming and glassing to get them sealed up nice.

As for the ride, they are an awesome flatwater hold and a so-so surf hold. Not easy to kick out of is the only reason for that. But they keep you in tight while inverted.

They have an excellent instructional video. I believe it was on their web site. I would like a set but am not ready to spend the money.

For about the same price, at least it was a couple years ago, i was looking into krash holds. My only concern would also being locked in too good as they curl around your heel.
They too look like a bitch to install.

So the reason I ask is... I have to make a decision. I built my sj last year,I spent the big money on paint and turf 4 months ago. I didn't defoam and shorten due to time. I love it but it soaks up half the lake, and feel it could be more nimble. I'm at the point to go aftermarket or defoam, shorten, and maybe new holds. I love my ski but to go through it again and spend the money seems pointless. But at the same time it would be cheaper.

They're sweet. They make the try so much wider. Well worth it over regular footholds

Did they give you more room in the tray? Did they ad weight? And what did id cost in materials roughly to install?
I bought the ski with them installed. The ski tray feels a lot bigger as it's opened up. I redid the turf when I bought the ski and took them off to paint and turf the ski and they weight nothing. Aluminum side plates and blocks weight 1 pound if that. I would guess you add less weight than a standard foot holds because you cut out a lot of material. I like them a lot. If my next ski doesn't have them then I will install for sure.

I just recently did an install and have a few gripes:
They are very labor intensive to install the right way (do not follow the instructional video, that is a joke and a terrible way to install them)
They eat up quite a bit of tray space (they do remove quite a bit of the gunwale which is nice but the actual holds protrude very far into the tray)
They do work their way loose, not a huge deal.

That said, adjustable holds are pretty cool and these ones look pretty nice once in the ski. Would I put them in my own ski? Nope. Would I follow the ski clinics install instructions to add a whole bunch of extra material, weight and un-necessarily build the tray up an 1" just because they were lazy with their molds? Nope.

There are some photos in my build thread here.
