Bob Gen 1 vs. Gen 2

looking at a Bob gen 1 that is carbon (70 pounds) for $3500 and the hull is really nice. but a gen 2 isnt much more. I dont really have much to spend extra. How much better is a gen 1 carbon vs a gen 2 glass? is it worth the extra $500?

Hood is completely different.
Pump location is different.
I think the bottom deck shape is different.

dk sr and that yellow and black split paint job were carbon.

the pump is set back, intake area is set back and widened, adj. foot holds, slim hood, i think a touch more rocker?

basically if you have a gen 1 and a gen 2, take the gen 2. its x100000 times better.

I used to own that ski! The Gen2 is a better all around ski but the Gen1 is no slouch! I always thought it felt more nimble and flickable than the Gen2's. There is more room in the tray with the original foot hold style too (easier for ball-busters and monkey jumps). They handled very similar IMO. That hull is light with the carbon, with a 701 it was 235lbs, made a big difference for flatwater, glad I went carbon once I got it. Paint job is sick too ;)

Bottom deck are the SAME, its only the pump(intake) who is set-back. Take a look at the vid 1:19 and 4:44, from DK sr himself.

Pump intake being set back = different.

Im not talking about the pump intake, Im talking about the bottom deck shape and curve who are the SAME, and its what DK sr tell in the vid I linked. You play with the word. Everybody know that the pump intake is different from the Gen1 since its set-back 3 inch. Anyway Im sure you understand my point !!

I have owned both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 and they are completely different. The three inches on the pump tunnel in my opinon is a change to the bottom deck. It completly changes the way the boat rides. Therfore it is a change in the bottom deck. It has more stabiliy and it feels more balanced than the Gen 1. I also feel like the Gen 2 doesn't ride as nose high maybe that is just me, the foothold location or the larger pump tunnel. Add the ride with the hood being lowered the two boats are in a different class all around. I loved my Gen 2 and can't wait to get my next boat. All that being said if the deal was right on a Gen 1 I would pull the triger it is a very fun hull.

Improvements the Gen2 received from Gen1:
-Wider Rails
-Set Back Pump
-Widened Intake
-Lower Hood
-Adjustable Footholds

Overall, the Gen2 is a FAR different ride than the Gen1. Gen2 is more surf-friendly, a better overall freestyle hull (no longer backflip-only) and is easier to control/ adapt to.

Is this ski the one that used to have a 760cc engine in it and you upgraded to a gen 2 with an 865cc? or am i thinking of someone else?
